Outside the TARDIS - Friday Evening

Jane leaned against the side of the TARDIS with her arms crossed and staring out into space.

Rose passed by the Tardis, just to see the old ship and smiled when she saw Jane. "Hi, Jane."

"Hey Rose... Out for a stroll?"

"Yep!" She said, grinning, "Yourself?"

"I'm waiting on the Doc actually."

"Still not back yet, is he?" Rose said, "Typical."

"Heh. Yeah, well. It's not like we had anything planned, I was just hoping to catch him. He does tend to wander don't he?"

"Worse than me," Rose agreed.

She bobbed her head.

"Well, he can't have gone far." she said patting the TARDIS.

"I was hopin he could take me somewheres."

"Oh, going for a trip?" Rose said, smiling, "That's brilliant!"

Jane rubbed the back of her neck.

"Actually, ah, more like... ending a trip."

"What do you mean ending?" Rose asked, confused.

"I want to go back to... when I came from."

"For a holiday?" Rose said, still not getting it.

"No, for good. I'll probably travel around there though... Buffalo Bill was trying to get me to travel with his show for a while before I left."

"For good? You mean, you're leaving..." the Doctor "all this? Travel through time and space? Everything?" It's clear from Rose's expression that she couldn't wrap her mind around the concept. Leaving the Doctor, the lifestyle.

"Well, it's not like he can't visit me I suppose but... I just, wasn't cut out for this sort of fuckin sedentary type of life."

Jane had done less traveling through time and space and more running a general store.

"Oh," she said, "well, if that's really your decision then. Good luck I wish we'd talked more though."

"Yeah, me too." Jane nodded. "...Though if we just stay here waiting about for him I'm sure we'll be able to catch up."

"Then that's what we'll do!" Rose said, "Best time to do it too... what with the stars out tonight and a wee bit of cool breeze."

Jane nodded and looked up in the sky.

"How many of those you been to?"

She looked up and tried to recall, "I suppose around, um, it's all a blur now because sometimes we just planet hopped, some days we stay around longer than expected but I suppose more than 50 would be the correct answer. We never stayed still for long the Doctor-- my Doctor can't stand staying in any place too long."

"Maybe he's just getting lazy in his old age."

She smiled, she doubted that of her own Doctor, a bundle of energy and excitement and the constant movement of moremoremore. "I suppose so, it's why I was so taken aback that he was here for months, I mean, if you just breathe the word 'mortgage' in his direction he'll have heart attacks."

"I think she's already paid for." she said patting the wall she was leaning on.

"Actually, she's not." Rose grinned wickedly,"The Doctor didn't pay for this Tardis." Her eyes gleamed with mischief, waiting for Jane's next question.

"He fucking steal her? Well, then he definitely doesn't have to worry about payments."

"He fucking did," Rose agreed and laughed, "Now you have something to hold over the righteous bastard."

"Well, I already give him a ration of shit for trying to parlay with the trolls that were dumb as shit so..."

"But it will help all humanity if we keep his nose grounded," Rose said nodding sagely but you could clearly see her eyes twinkling.
