The Park, Saturday Late Evening

After a nice dinner and long conversation, Luna found herself walking home with Chris.

As they reached the park, as you do, and decided to take the scenic route back to the dorms though it.

"This is weather like I'm used to," Chris shared. "The cold and wet we've had lately has been miserable."

"This is glorious." Luna agreed with a grin. "I am rather more used to cold, wet, and miserable in the forecast."

Chris shook his head. "Ugh. You'll definitely have to visit San Francisco with me sometime, then," he said.

"Do you," Luna began to say, as she leaned a little on Chris' arm for balance so she could take off her shoes, "have parks as," she picked up her shoes in her free hand, "nice as these?"

"Golden Gate Park is beautiful," Chris told her, chuckling a bit as she took her shoes off. "It's got a nice view of the Bay."

"There is only so long certain types of shoes may be worn before a foot rebellion begins." Luna said, gently joking. "Bay? So it is on, or near water like we are here?"

Near East? She'd been there. Far East? She'd been there. Europe? She'd been there. North America? Not so much.

"Yeah, it's near the Pacific Ocean," Chris said. "And the San Francisco Bay. The Golden Gate Bridge spans the area where they merge, which is called the Golden Gate. And be careful not to step on anything."

"Oh no!" Luna gasped as seriously as she could manage.

Chris's neurosis kicked into high gear. "Are you okay?" he asked, frowning at her. "Do you need me to carry you to the clinic?"

"I stepped on some grass. Will I live, do you think?" Luna asked, lips trembling with suppressed laughter.

She wasn't much of one for prank pulling, but she hadn't been able to resist.

"That was mean," Chris said, but he was laughing, so it was obvious he didn't mean it.

"Sorry about that." Luna laughed as well and then, returning to their conversation asked, "is the bridge made of gold then?"

"No, they just call it that. Some explorer back in the 1800s named the strait the Golden Gate because it connected the Pacific Ocean to the San Francisco Bay," Chris explained. "So when they built the bridge across it, they called it the Golden Gate Bridge."

"Makes a nice sort of sense." Luna said. She looked up, way up. "Know anything of constellations and astronomy?"

"Not really," Chris admitted, tipping his head back. "Do you?"

"It is one of the courses I took at home." Luna said and slipped her wand from behind her ear to point out a few constellations. "Tonight there will be a meteor shower, filling the sky with shooting stars. A lovely sight all together."

Chris smiled and looked where she pointed. He was perfectly content to stand there and look up at the night sky.

"Hey! There goes one!"

"Spectacular." Luna said in an awed whisper.

"Definitely," Chris agreed in a similar tone.
