The Perk - Sunday Morning

Chris was only slightly wary of this whole 'family breakfast' thing. He knew it was a bad plan for Grams and Grandpa to be in the same place. And Mom was bringing Lindsey and would expect him and Wyatt to be nice. And Aunt Phoebe was bringing both of her boyfriends, which he could only imagine Grams and Grandpa would not be pleased about.

Hopefully the Perk would still be standing after this morning... which, given Fandom's track record lately... was probably even odds.

[ooc: Yes, there is going to be a dysfunctional Halliwell family breakfast at the Perk, but it's open for your own Perkly needs. Minor OCD to keep things neat.]

"I'm just a guy," Lindsey protested. "I'm not anything!"

"Then why can my grandsons orb?" Victor asked. He looked at Piper. "Really, Piper. Can't you just hook up with a demon like your sister?"

"Lindsey isn't a whitelighter!" Piper exclaimed. "Um, not right now, anyway."

She looked down sadly, because if he is a whitelighter in the future than that meant...Piper really didn't want to think about that.

Lindsey was rapidly becoming very concerned and very confused. "Not right now?" he echoed. "Someone wanna fill me in?"

Victor was still glaring at Lindsey. "So you're not dead yet?" he asked.

"Not the last time I checked!" Lindsey felt the beginnings of a flail coming on. None of this was making any sense.

"They can orb," Piper explained, indicating her sons. "That means their father must be a whitelighter which is sort of a guardian angel for witches...Um, they're sort of...dead. But not? It's hard to explain."

She sighed, wishing she could be anywhere else right now.

"I don't wanna be dead!"

Phoebe came right to their side during this and looked from Piper and Lindsey to her nephews. This wasn't good.

Piper looked around at everyone, not at all sure what to say or how to respond. She was very confused and could feel tears forming. "I...need to go."

And so she fled the Perk instead of dealing with this at the moment.

There were few things that got Phoebe as pissed off as she was getting right now. Something hurting Piper like this was right at the top of the list. When Piper fled the Perk, Phoebe turned to the boys with fire sparking in her eyes. She was pretty sure that Lindsey would go after Piper and she wasn't about to let this be. Not now. Not when she could feel Piper's anguish this strongly.

"Explain, now," she demanded. "And no, you do not get to give me any bullshit about not wanting to tell me about the future. That excuse doesn't work when my sister is this fucking upset."

"We can't!" Wyatt flailed, wanting to orb away again.

Chris bit his lip. "We didn't mean to upset her," he said. "But..." he looked at Grams and Victor helplessly, hoping for some back up.

"Phoebe, it can be dangerous to know the future," Grams said, though she was itching to know the truth as well. "You expect things to happen and try to make it come to pass, but you could end up making things worse."

For the first time in her life, Phoebe blatanty refused to listen to this advice from her Grams.

"Not this time, Grams. No. You cannot feel Piper's anguish in your head. I can."

Phoebe looked from Chris to Wyatt. "When you came to me that first night, I trusted you, no questions asked. I have continued to trust you since that night. I did as you asked and I kept that information from Piper until you guys told her yourself. I have tried not push for information about your future -- even after you told me what you told me about what happens to us in your time." She was so upset she was shaking. "I can't accept that anymore. Not now. Not after feeling how whatever is going is hurting Piper."

"You want us to trust you, well you know what, trust is a two way street, guys. You need to start fucking trusting in us, too. I want the truth and I want it now."

Chris cast a helpless glance in Victor's direction, but it was clear that his grandfather was not suicidal enough to contradict either Grams or Phoebe.

He sighed. "Lindsey isn't our father," he said.

"I don't know if he and Mom ever met in our world," Wyatt added.

Phoebe was torn between being glad that Piper wouldn't have to deal with Lindsey dying and wanting to throttle her nephews for not being clear about that before Piper ran out.

"In your world your father is a Whitelighter?"

Alternate timelines so made her get a migraine.

Chris nodded. "His name is Leo Wyatt."

Grams had been taking a drink just then, oh so conveniently. When she heard the name she started to choke.

Phoebe might have started to panic. "Grams!"

"I'm fine, dear," Grams said, waving her off. "I just swallowed the wrong way."

Chris glanced at Grams. "Do you know our dad?" he asked.

"Possibly," Grams said. "It's not important." She waved it away.
