The Perk, Sunday evening

Angel had coffee, he had his dog, he'd made some handwavey phonecalls to let people know where to meet him -

If only he had music and rhythm. Then he could ask for nothing more.

Actually he was content with the whole coffee/dog/friends thing.

Lana crouched down to give Sean his due share of attention as she smiled up at Angel. "I've been doing really well despite all the insanity. Even made it to prom this year, though Jim did turn into a panther again shortly thereafter."

"Take it from me," Angel said. "There's worse things a guy could turn into."

"Oh, I believe you," Lana said. "Even just in terms of the everydayish stuff for Fandom. Panthers? Definitely better than bunnies or foxes or weird lizard things."

"He better now?" Angel asked.

"No more panther," Lana said. "He was actually a panther while the rest of us were wee tiny. And boy, you have no idea just how much of a mess an almost 4 year old and a panther can get into without adults around to say things like, 'No, dear, giving a panther a bath in the bathtub is NOT a good idea. And if you must, please don't use all the bedding to clean up the mess afterwards.' Took me hours to get everything straightened up again."

Angel laughed. "Oh man, shedding alone..."

"You have no idea. Really," Lana said with a grin. "If I hadn't seen it myself I wouldn't have believed it."

"We have enough with Sean," Angel said. "'course when you were black all the time that's hard to see."

"True," Lana said. "And not so much with the bright sunshine to see the fur in all the corners."

"That's what Logan's for," Angel said. "Least that's what I keep telling him."

"Logan Echolls, house cleaner," Lana said thoughtfully. "You know, there's a certain ring about that."

"He says he's not going to wear the uniform," Angel said, mock-pouting.

"Oh no!" Lana said in mock-shock. "That's terrible!"

"One of these days I'll get him in a bellboy uniform," Angel promised.

"And take pictures, right? Which you will then send copies of to me?"

"That or sketches," Angel promised. He tapped the side of his head. "Photographic."

"I'll hold you to that," Lana said with a smile. She glanced down at her watch. "I should get going. Need to pick my way through the rubble, you know?"

"Good luck with that," Angel said. He went to give her a goodbye hug. "Glad you could stop by."

Lana hugged him tightly. "I'm glad I could too. I do miss you."

"Same here," Angel said. "Make sure Jim treats you okay or I'll have him fixed."

"Oooh, cruel," Lana said with a laugh. "Honestly, though, he treats me like a princess. I've never felt so special in my life." She stepped back slowly and a little reluctantly. "Okay then. Safe journey and hope to see you soon."
