Chilly Boulder Creamery, Thursday evening
Evie bounced in, then stopped in front of the ice-cream freezer display, humming happily. "Hmm. Something new? Or an old favorite like rainbow sherbet? What's your favorite?" she asked Sokka.

He stepped up to the counter. "I'll have..." He looked around at all the yummy goodness. "A scoop of Raspberry-Lime Sorbet With Chunks of Real Fruit, a scoop of Quadruple Fudge Marshmallow Death By Chocolate, and a scoop of Bubble Gum, in a waffle cone. With caramel topping. And my special lady friend would like...?"
He grinned at Evie, not sure whether to put his Sokkatastic mack on or simper like a puppy dog, and ending up just looking like a dweeb.

But! Minty Swirl!

A date! With ice cream!
"So. Um. Do you have a little brother or little sister showing up tomorrow?"
no subject
"Yeah," he said, as the server handed him his cone. "But I don't know who. The sheet just said it's an animal." He shrugged. "Maybe another talking cat? I don't know. What about you?"

Evie turned bright pink, and hummed for a minute. "Oh. Um? Yes! That is to say, his -- or her-- name is Kou Leifou," she said, pronouncing it carefully. "I don't know if that's a boy's or girl's name. I just hope I can help them out here, and do as good a job as Blair did for me my first term here."

After Evie had her cone and he had paid, he led her over to a table. "So Blair was your big?" he asked, by way of conversation. "Uh. I haven't really, uh... Talked to Dean at all. Much. I should probably get to know him better, huh?"

And, well. Quite gorgeous. But, moving on...
"And yours is going to be an animal?" Evie frowned, taking another quick lick of her cone. "LIke, oh, Faithful? Or perhaps someone who'd been turned into an animal?"
no subject
"Uh, yeah. Seems nice. I just haven't... Talked to him all that much? I don't know why. I guess just that I didn't need much help, maybe."
He took a big bite out of his cone. "Dunno about the animal. That's all it said. Big brother, Sokka. Little brother, animal." He shrugged and gave Evie a big smile.

"You're very self-sufficient," Evie agreed, looking both proud and envious. "I suppose that must come with being a warrior. Oh! I didn't tell you about the classes I'm taking!" She did a little chair-dance of delight, hugging herself and almost spilling ice cream everywhere. "Treasure Hunting!"
no subject
"Aw, NICE!" he shouted, and did a chair-dance along with Evie. "I couldn't fit all the stuff I wanted to take, so I'm not in that one. Do you get to keep the treasure you find?"

His breath caught when she patted at his chest. "Uh. Um. Yeah. Uh." He coughed nervously. "I'm sure it'll be fine," he finished smoothly. "The laundry detergent here is SO MUCH BETTER than the soap back home!"
no subject
And that was the top of Evie's cone landing on the table with all the flailing. "Oops."
no subject
"AAAAGH!"

"I'm good," he said.
He smiled at Evie and then looked down at his shirt again. "This, uh... keeps happening to us, doesn't it? Guess we'll just have to get used to it."

He smirked at Evie. "We should keep doing this a lot, until we can do it without any accidents."
