Movies In the Park!

Just before dusk, the temporary movie screen is set up. There's a large open area in front of it, where movie-goers can spread out blankets or set up lawn chairs. Some people are already gathered, picnicking while the sun sets.

[OOC: The movie begins at dusk, and the screen will be removed afterwards. OCD threads ~~will be~~ have been set up for your movie-going use. Anyone who needs the park for other purposes will find that the outdoor cinema takes up only a portion of the park, with plenty of space available for non-movie needs.]

Talk with your friends, meet new people, hang out with your date, play with your dog. The film begins at dusk.

Millie settled down comfortably by a tree with a warm blanket in case it got chilly. Proudfoot curled up happily beside her.

Chris waved to his boss at some point.

Millie waved back happily. "Good to see you, Chris!"

"You too, Millie," Chris replied. "How's everything going?"

"Oh, marvelously well," Millie said cheerfully. "Proudfoot and I just decided to come out and get some air and watch the movie. They're all so interesting!"

"Good to hear," Chris said. "This is my first time coming to the movies here, but I'm looking forward to it. As long as the rain holds off, that is."

"Oh, goodness, if you're concerned about that just sit near us. I have no intention of getting wet tonight and I'm glad to extend coverage to you should it prove necessary," Millie said with a smile.

"You can do that?" Chris asked, clearly impressed. "Can you teach me, or is that something ingrained in your makeup?"

Millie blinked at him. "Well... magic is ingrained in my makeup, but learning different ways to use it is not. You clearly have magical abilities..."

She shrugged. "I'm not sure if you can learn it, but I'd be glad to try and teach you if you'd like."

"That's what I meant," Chris said. "I mean, I know you said you had some sort of magical abilities. Anyway, yeah, I'm determined to learn as much as I can about my powers this summer."

"Well, I'd be glad to help in any way," Millie assured him. "Perhaps we could set aside some time each week to work on things?"

"That would be awesome," Chris nodded.

"Wonderful," Millie said happily. "Stop by to see my sometime and we'll find a time that works for both of us."

"I'll do that," Chris promised.

"Very good," Millie said. "I look forward to it. Enjoy the movie!"

After work, Chris was pleasantly surprised to find Luna ~~handwavy~~ waiting for him near his cabin. He grabbed a quick shower and changed his clothes and they ~~handwavy~~ stopped at J,GOB for a picnic dinner while they waited for the movie to start.

"So what happened?" Chris asked, once he'd laid out their blanket and they were settled comfortably. "I thought you were going to be gone longer than a week."

"I was in England for nearly two months. Much happened. Where would you like me to begin?" Luna said, taking a piece of bread. "How have you been?"

After his experience with Deadpool, you'd think that Chris couldn't be so surprised. And you'd be wrong.

"What?" he blinked. "You just left last week!"

"I gathered that time here did not move the same as time at home when I returned last night." She smiled. "I do not know how it is possible, I only know that it is what did."

"I'm not sure why anything surprises me around here anymore," Chris said with a small sigh. "But this was a happy surprise, so it's fine with me. Tell me how your exams went."

"I am glad to have returned. How were things here for the week?" Luna smiled shyly. "The examinations were exhilarating! The practicals were slightly more difficult than I had anticipated, but the challenge was welcome. I believe I did rather well, all things considered."

[ooc: sorry. crashed.]

"Good, I'm glad to hear it," Chris said. "Of course, I had no doubt that you'd do well."

He reached for her hand. "Aside from the influx of new people, it's been pretty much status quo here. My little sib is a talking frog."

"Thank you." Luna blushed. "That which transpired after the examiners were finished with us is of more interest to the greater magical world, but I am glad to be away from it for now."

"Mine is a girl who seems to believe that she should not exist and misses a place that never was quite terribly." She took his hand and twined her fingers with his without looking. "A talking frog?"

"Yep. Very cheerful guy. Seems really nice," Chris said, giving her a concerned look. "What happened? Or if you don't want to talk about it, that's okay."

"I hope he makes the transition to life here easily and enjoys his time here." Luna smiled thinly.

She may have held a little more tightly to Chris' hand as she spoke. "They came. We fought. We neither won nor lost, but our casualties were greater than anticipated. Chaos has come upon us and Father sent me away to a place he deems more safe, rebuilt or no."

Chris squeezed Luna's hand and moved a little closer to her. "I'm sorry," he said sincerely. "I'm glad you're back, but not under those circumstances."

"It had to happen. Every struggle has a moment when it final becomes real to those with their minds buried in the sands of ignorance." She loosened her grip but still held his hand. She looked up from where she'd been staring blankly at their blanket. "Thank you."

"Anytime," Chris replied, giving her a reassuring smile.

Feel free to discuss or mock the movie, or snuggle with your significant other. (Just keep things PG13.)

This week's film is Funny Face (http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0050419/) with Audrey Hepburn and Fred Astaire.

They're taking down the screen until next week, but you can still talk about what you just saw, continue snuggling with your date, set up an impromptu game of after-dark frisbee, etc.
