Trooper Station: Tuesday Morning

Dale has started making sure that stacks of doughnuts and coffee are available for the troopers every morning. Granted he had eaten most of the jellies already, but there were plenty of glazed bear claws to go around.

Dale was currently at his desk, idly reviewing old cases on the island and would no doubt love an interruption.

Willow stopped by the station with a rather full-looking bag. "Hello?"

"Good morning," Dale said in an official yet congenial manner. "Can I help you?"

"I have hope," Willow said. "Are you the new trooper-type-person?"

"Not exactly," Dale chuckled. "Apparently I lack the height needed to wear the armor. I am the new police officer in town though. What can I do for you, Miss?"

Willow held up her bag. "I brought cookies. The other troopers and the sheriff got cookies, and I felt that it would be unfair for you to miss out just because you weren't here when that happened. Though this is not to say that there couldn't be sharing."

"Well thank you, young lady," Dale said, graciously taking the cookies and adding it the table where the troopers converged on it like a pack of hyenas. "The troopers seem to appreciate it. Allow me to introduce myself, Dale Cooper."

"Willow Rosenberg," she replied. "Law-abiding citizen."

"A pleasure to meet you, Ms. Rosenberg," Dale said offering his hand. "I take it you're a student at the local high school?"

Willow nodded. "Just finished my junior year, as good students with no naughtiness to worry about are wont to do."

"Well it's very nice to hear that some students in this time are still dedicated to their studies and not always off in the woods chasing axe murderers," Dale said with a grin. "You sound like a very driven young lady. What are your plans for after school?"

"Admittedly I'm not certain in a one hundred percent sort of way," Willow said. "My original plans were college and a return to hellmouth defending. But then I met a guy and I'm not saying that women should give up their goals for men but he's got a world I feel I could be helpful to and there's the added benefit that he lives there."

"That can truly be a dilemma," he said with a slight wistful look. "It's a choice not to be taken lightly. And I assume that this young man is also an upstanding law abiding citizen like yourself?"

"He makes the law!" Willow said, proudly. "He's a king. And a knight. Very large with the being noble and abiding of rules."

"A king?" Dale asked raising his eyebrows. "There's a young king here at this school?"

"Yep," Willow said. "He doesn't like to brag about it. You'd never know by looking at him."

"A king who knows the value of humility," Dale said with a nod. "He does sound impressive. What country is he king of?"

"Narnia," Willow said. "It's in a different dimension, but it's very nice. I got to visit it over winter break."

"Another dimension?" Dale asked with a quirky gleeful look as if he just discovered that rocks could talk. Or something. "Really? I can see why you'd think about going there."

"It's very beautiful," Willow said. "And his family doesn't hate me. Well, maybe Ed's still on the undecided fence. He still has witch issues. But I feel this is just the sort of discrimination I can help work against."

"A witch?" Dale said again with that quirky look. "You're the second person who has told me that they're a witch since coming here. Is that a common occupation on this island?"

"It's not uncommon," Willow said. "Back home I'm one of a few, but here we have entire classes and clubs dedicated to it. It's kinda nice being around folks I can talk magic with and not have to worry about being burned alive."

"Interesting," Dale said leaning back in his chair. "The school here seems geared to help a lot of different students with varying backgrounds. Tell me Ms. Rosenberg, have you ever learned anything about Native American mysticism?"

"Do not tick off the Chumash," Willow replied. "They do not play fair."

Dale gave her a puzzled look. "The Chumash? I don't think I've heard of them."

"Tribe from the Sunnydale area," Willow explained. "Tiny bit grudge-holdy but I don't think we can totally blame them."

"Ahhh. I see," Dale said. "Well have you ever heard of a place called the Black Lodge? It's a... world outside of ours which has some... interesting people living there."

"No!" Willow looked fascinated, and like she wished she could take notes. "Is it magical?"

"Possibly," Dale replied. "However it is a dangerous place. I've been there once in a dream, or possibly a place called the White lodge. Right before I came to Fandom I entered into the Black Lodge to try and apprehend an escaped madman and mass murderer. In this world they have something called a 'spirit-who-walks'. It's quite possible I faced one of them there. It's also possible that this Lodge may be a bridge between my world and this one."

"Are the spirits evil?" Willow asked. "Because if they are I could try to make you some protection spells."

"Some are and some aren't," Dale replied. "I believe there were some members of the Lodge who are beings of light and those who are of darkness. Unfortunately the idea of re-entering the lodge is one that I do not intend to take anytime soon. The risk of letting evil slip into this world is great and I do not wish to be the one that lets that happen."

"I get that," Willow said. "It's kind of like when I was on the hellmouth. It's that fine line between helping and oh great you just let a whole buncha demons out because your perfectly fine spell had a component you didn't realize did not allow for substitutions."

"You've had that issue before?"

"Not me," Willow said, looking cute. "Other people."

Dale chuckled. "Well I guess it's good that the school is teaching you all so well."
