Serenity Cove [afternoon]

Aravis had decided to take advantage of her brand new swimsuit (and wrap skirt even if the icon does not show it omg) and had meandered down to the beach.

She'd skittered near the water and back from it, then spread out a wee blanket on the sand to sit with a book.

[open to all! if you need a reason to be here, she handwavily called you. if you need a reason to be here and you don't know Aravis...well, she fails at telephone, still, so you can say she called the wrong number and invited your character. :D]

"They'd probably upset me if they still hurt you," Seely admitted. He pressed a kiss to her shoulder. "But since they don't bother you, they shouldn't bother me."

She smiled. "They don't. They weren't deep and were well-healed. The marks simply remain. I can't imagine yours still hurts after a decade, does it?"

"No," Seely shook his head, then grinned. "Well, not unless I want to guilt Jared."

Aravis laughed. "He must be...about a year my senior, I suppose. Does it still work?"

"Not so much anymore," Seely said. "But when we were kids, yeah."

"Sounds familiar," she said, grinning. "Did you feign an inability to move properly, blame him, and then request he bring you sweets?"

"Comics too," Seely replied. "I got in so much trouble when my parents found out."

"I certainly never tried anything of that sort with Rishti when we were younger, what with being the perfect picture of an innocent and demure sister," Aravis said, still laughing. "What is a comic? I presume not a full entertainer."

"Of course not," Seely agreed, grinning. "The thought you might never crossed my mind. It's sort of a book, only it tells the story with pictures instead of words."

"No, no, I was a very good child. Truly," Aravis said solemnly, clearly trying not to laugh. "It carried over as I grew older, as you can tell. Perfectly well-behaved little Tarkheena."

"Shy and demure," Seely added. "Retiring even."

"Soft-spoken, yielding...."

"Frail and delicate like a rare flower."

"Truly fragile," she said, nodding. "I may yet swoon."

She pressed a hand to her forehead and fell back against the blanket.

Seely stretched himself out beside her. "Clearly you need a strong manly male to protect you from all the world's ills."

"Of course," she said, fluttering her lashes at him. "Do you know where I might find one?"

"My sword stands ready to protect your honour," Seely said, attempting to look very manly indeed. "Of course I don't actually have a sword, so there might be some problems there."

"Oh, that's fine. You can borrow mine," she smirked. "As a proper lady, I shan't have any use for it."

Seely totally didn't giggle-snort, it was totally a manly laugh. "Because proper ladies have no idea how to handle swords."

"Of course not," Aravis said, closing her eyes and smiling. "Proper ladies have never seen a sword up close in their lives."

And if she'd finally caught the innuendo, she wasn't going to say anything.

Seely reached over to toy with a stray lock of hair. "Barely even have an idea what they look like," he added, content to keep things at a fairly harmless level of innuendo. "And definitely don't have any desire to find out."

"Of course not," she said, keeping her eyes shut and grinning. "It would offend all sensibilities. There would be quite a lot of fainting, I think."

Seely grinned and kissed her shoulder again. "Just idea of a girl with an interest in swords is scandalous."

Aravis shifted to press a kiss to his cheek. "Do you promise not to tell on me, then?" she asked with an impish grin.

Seely rested his chin on her shoulder and gave her the puppy eyes. "Only if you promise not to tell anyone I like a girl with an interest in swords."
