Book Haven: Thursday 10-5PM [5-31-07]

Millie opened the store quite cheerfully and got everything ready for any customers.  Then she sat back and watched as Proudfoot played with the two napkin mice - very gently - before curling up with them.

Aiden's decided to go on a far too long postponed reading material search during her lunchbreak. She skimmed the shelves a bit, and greeted Millie with a smile and a brief wave.

Once she'd browsed a bit, and with some light reading on anthropology under her arm, Aiden made her way over to Millie. "Like what you've done with the place," she said in greeting. "Hadn't been in since you've been here, I don't think."

"Aiden," she introduced in return. "Nice t' meet you too. Still can't believe in a little place like this and after all this time, there's still people I've managed not to meet."

"S'pose so," Aiden agreed. "Feels like I don't go anywhere much except the office and The Perk these days. Gonna have to work on that one."

"I'm workin' on some of that," Aiden said with a nod. "Next on the list, plannin' to go have a girly day the spa. Can't believe I've managed to miss out on that one so far."

She paused, then smiled at Millie. So she's only just met her, doesn't mean she can't still offer, right? "You into face packs and massages by any chance?"

Aiden chuckled. "It's fun. Promise," she said. "Well, I like it at least. Anyway, Mary an' I were plannin' on making a trip sometime soon, an' hey, the more the merrier if you want to come along."

"I figure, nothin' bad about socialising and gettin' pampered at the same time," Aiden said with a grin. "Or nothin' I can think of anyway."

"No problem at all," Aiden replied. "Glad you'd want to come try it out with us."

She shifted the books from under her arm, and put them on the counter. "So, how long is it you've been here anyway?"

"Since... 'bout November," Aiden replied. "Long enough to know the place is crazy," she added with a smirk. "Nothin' like New York, that's for sure."

"Right," Aiden said, nodding slightly. "Few hours North of here."

"Guessin' you're from one of those alternate worlds, huh?"

"Oh, they actually have magic where you're from," Aiden commented. "Not many I've met came here knowin' about that stuff. Certainly isn't anythin' like that in my reality... and wow is it still odd thinkin' about that."

"First I knew of any of it was prob'ly the zombies at Caritas... or the trolls. One or the other. Can't say I like either, though."

"Slowly but surely, gettin' used to not being weirded out by the oddities. Taken a damn long while, though."

"So, you're used to the rainin' meatballs?" Aiden asked with a smirk.

"Ate a whole bunch of my books thanks to Fandom idiosyncrasies," Aiden said with an eyeroll. "Never eating the things that turn into pie again."

"Well, stuff was turning into pie left, right and centre," Aiden said with a shrug. "Thought eatin' it was better than letting it go off. A bunch of them turned into books again in my fridge freezer, though."

"Next time my stuffs starts turnin' into food, I'll be sure to come find you," Aiden said with a chuckle. "Think I lost a couple of decent forensics texts thanks to that weekend," she added thoughtfully.

"Might have t' have another little look round and see what's in here."

"Not like I really need 'em, now I'm not a CSI," she said. "I jus' kinda liked having some around, y'know?"

"A uh, crime scene investigator," Aiden said. "I was a detective back in New York, guess I still am. It just doesn't seem quite the same now I'm a PI, though."

"Pretty much, yeah," Aiden replied with a nod. "'cept now I work for myself, an' other people, rather than the county. Slightly different kinda work. Less gory, which is nice."

"Yeah, but also, not so much with the helpin' getting bad guys off the streets," Aiden pointed out. "Catching cheating spouses an' bail jumpers is all very well, but not quite as satisfyin', really."

"How 'bout you?" Aiden asked. "Always owned a bookstore, or is thing somethin' new for you?"
