Café Fina, Monday
Naminé was less nervous on her second day of opening the café than she had been on her first.
So when the pepper shaker asked her to come up with Today's Specials, she asked a few relevant questions and then, with a smile, wrote:
Today Only: We support the fine arts!
Half-price for all artists!
Free dessert for anyone who draws for us!
She certainly hoped that they were right, and Lumiere wouldn't mind. She would hate to get fired so soon.
Café Fina was open.

Speak to Naminé

It was odd, how being at work made her slightly more confident than her usual. "Do come in and have a seat, Professor. And don't mind the dishes, they're simply enthusiastic about service." She nodded slightly as the pepper-shaker did a jig nearby.

She raised an eyebrow to suggest that the dishes had interesting taste in music before taking his order back to the kitchen.

She flushed. "My apologies, I shouldn't be looking over your shoulder."

"You have my apologies all the same. And was it nice? Living with a lot of people, I mean. I suppose that would depend largely on the people involved." She shrugged. "There were eight of us in my cabin, but it was rather nice all the same."

She stood still, at any rate. "I hope the nice bits outnumbered the disastrous bits. When did you study art?"
Re: Speak to Naminé
Re: Speak to Naminé
"I believe you would have been a good one. Are you sorry that you weren't? An illustrator, I mean."

"I'm glad you got to do what you needed, then. And I'm sorry about what you told us about last week. Is that how it stopped?"
She took the sketch from him hesitantly. "Thank you. I shan't be selling it, regardless of the going rate. You're ... dead?"

When she returned, there were two dancing dishes with her, setting down food for Steve and humming a jaunty tune.

"But of course!" said the dishes. "Eet es a classique!"
The singing had a very strong French accent to it
because the A is for France, but it was a hearty, rousing rendition nonetheless.Re: Speak to Naminé
The A totally stands for FranceSteve acknowledged that he was a dork, as he fully enjoyed the dishes' singing. In fact, he hummed along, as he didn't wish to subject the restaurant to his singing.Re: Speak to Naminé

She nodded slowly. "So this country, it's a good place? Or you mean this island? I've noticed a great deal of ... I suppose, acceptance here, of what might be unusual elsewhere. The people here seem to protect their own. There are a great many heroes."
Re: Speak to Naminé
Re: Speak to Naminé
She shook her head, musing. "And this island ... has shown me every consideration. I found a knight on my first day, who after five minutes' acquaintance stepped forward face off danger in my stead. Because he's a hero, and that's what heroes do."

She had a small smile on her face. "And you're welcome to another slice of the cheesecake, if you'd like."
