Tannim had his laptop with him today. He wanted to check out the new website for car mechanics, mechanicly.com. Unfortunately, it was still in beta and the request list for invites was over 5000 names long. He sighed, added his name to the list, and killed a little time looking at the screenshots.

The Magic Box was open.

Lunchtime, and Charlie's on break to take a look at the magic shop stuff, plus pick up the candle she reserved a week ago. "Hey, Tannim. How's business going?"

"Hey Charlie!" Tannim said. "Not too busy today. How're the kittens?"

"Cute but rowdy. They were chewing on the CD covers to the newest reggae CD, I had to put them behind the counter for a while." Charlie grinned. "Still got that big vanilla candle?"

"I sure do," Tannim said. He ducked behind the counter to look through the lower shelves. "Just the one vanilla left in that size and I saved it - uh-oh." He raised his head so that just his eyes appeared over the counter. "Don't suppose you'd like a Slug one instead?"

Charlie stared at him, then blinked. "Slug. Ugh? Nooooo, that's okay, really, I don't need one that badly...."

"Oh, wait, here it is," Tannim said with a grin. "It was behind a jar of mouse ears. Don't know how I could've missed it."

"Youuuuuu," Charlie accused, laughing, "are a big tease, Tannim. Jeez! Don't do that! Gah, slug. Why do you even *have* slug candles?" She shook her head, pulling out her wallet. "How are you workshops going now?"

Tannim grinned at her. "Pretty good, except I overslept and missed one on Friday. How about you?"

"I'm really enjoying Art, which is so dopey and summer camp that I'm almost embarrassed. I suck at the Mercenary Class, but Professor Deadpool doesn't seem to mind. And we finally got to try to disarm bombs in Blowing Stuff Up this week, so that was pretty cool." And a relief from throwing and making them; Charlie thought she might be a little *too* into that. "Which class did you miss?" She handed over the money for the candle, and picked it up, sniffing it with a smile.

"Flight and Flying," Tannim said. He rang up the candle purchase. "Guess I know who to call if I can't decide to cut the red or the blue wire."

Charlie blushed and stopped herself from giggling. "Well, yeah. Although Aly had them set to go off even if we got it right. I got covered in paint. Zuko was furious that kept happening." She looked over at the Slug candles. "Did Turtle ever say what she wanted those for?"

"No, she didn't, and I'm still curious," Tannim said. "So even if you disarmed the bombs correctly, they still exploded? Mean!"

Charlie nodded glumly. "Supposed to teach us that they're very fragile and even doing it right isn't a guarantee. That part I could have lived without." She grinned. "So, did you hear about what this weekend's event is going to be? I haven't checked the schedule."

"So, you learned that bombs are dangerous? That's useful," Tannim said. "I haven't checked the schedule either. I'm woefully out of touch."

"Then we can both be surprised when whatever-it-is happens tomorrow," Charlie said, rolling the candle along the counter. "Last week's was fun, that film festival. Although scary. I really feel for those people in those documentaries. But they were *funny* under the influence of gremlins and spells. I really need to buy a camera."

Tannim laughed. "Yeah, there's a lot of photo-worthy stuff happening around here."

"And story-worthy. Although I'm starting to doubt people about the invasions. Because we've been here a while, and it's just been that one freaky guy in the woods, and nothing else bad has happened."

"It's only been a couple of weeks," Tannim said. "Don't worry, things'll get weirder."
