Luke's Diner, Thursday
Welcome, everyone, to Non-Emo Thursday at Luke's! Now in its second week of being more or less emo-free! And in celebration, today's menu was a little . . . themed.
TODAY'S SPECIALS
Beaver Tails
Poutine
Fries smothered in gravy and cheese curds
Newfoundland-style Fries
Fries smothered in gravy and stuffing
Eggs and Peameal Bacon
Clam Chowder
Well, okay, maybe it was a slightly emo Thursday. Stupid Alfredsson. Stupid Spezza. He'd done better on the Brampton Battalion than on the Sens. But the good thing about being a Leafs fan was that Jude was well used to disappointment. And there was, of course, always next year. He was sure the boys in blue would win the drink next year. Next year.

"It was all in the proper application of the cheese." Jude turned, presenting her milkshake. "Voila!"
It was vanilla, with a last-minute swirl of cherry and chocolate to break it up.

"You know," she said, finally, "this is actually really amazing, Jude, and I'm ashamed of myself for ever even flirting with the idea that it might be otherwise." She gave him an appriciative, approving grin.

"No!" And then she flailed. "He kidnapped you?"

And she was recalling it with a blush because that was when Teddy kissed her and nearly paralyzed her with dread and memories of their supposed future child.
