Melody propped the doors of Groovy Tuns wide open and put on some Led Zeppelin, which seemed vaguely Renn Fairey to her because of the album covers.

The music store was open.

Ronan wandered into the store that morning, looking to pick up some CDs to take back to Nita.

Ooh, a customer!

"Hi, can I help you? And watch the kitties," Melody said with a grin.

Ronan definitely watched the kitties. For a long moment, in fact, and was amused by them. "Yeah, actually. This may be a bit of an odd request, but I'm looking for some interesting music that came out in the last year. Nothing specific, although if you've got Mika, I'll definitely take that, too."

"I don't know Mika," Melody admitted, but flitted over to the M's and pulled a CD triumphantly. "What does he sound like?"

She tilted her head to one side. "Interesting like Justin Timberlake, or interesting like Arcade Fire?"

Ronan paused. "I have no idea who Arcade Fire are, but if they're different than Justin Timberlake, I'll go with them." He grinned. "And Mika is... kind of like a new Freddy Mercury, without sounding like a clone of him."

"So ... you like kind of classic rock-type stuff?" Melody guessed. "You have to hear Arcade Fire, it's like someone put U2 and Springsteen and Talking Heads and Flaming Lips into a blender? Only, without hurting them." She handed him that CD, too, and bit a finger, considering what else to suggest. "A lot of people like the new Joss Stone and Maroon 5 CDs," she said finally.

"I'm Melody, by the way. This is my store."

Ronan considered what Nita might like, and said, "I'll take both of those, too." He held out his hand. "I'm Ronan, I'm a student up at the school."

Melody shook his hand and then rushed off to find the other CDs. "Awesome to meet you," she said. "Are you Irish? I love Lucky Charms."

Ronan nodded. "Born and raised in County Wicklow," he said. "Although I can't say that Lucky Charms are a particularly accurate representation of our culture," he added, with a grin.

Melody looked heartbroken. "So, no leprechauns? Or no marshmallows?" she asked, moving back toward the counter to ring Ronan up. "Because I loooove marshmallows."

Ronan laughed. "Well, no leprechauns exactly. Not the way most people think of them. The so-called 'little people' are taller than us, more often than not. They just live a little... sideways of reality, so when we see them they often look small. And most of them aren't hiding pots of gold." He grinned. "We do, however, have marshmallows."

"Then I might need to go to Ireland," Melody said, concentrating on what Ronan had said about leprechauns. "So you, like, know real leprechauns?"

Ronan shrugged. "Not... exactly. I've met a few of the beings who some would call leprechauns? But that's not quite the same thing."

"Cool. How'd you meet them?" Melody asked. "I'vwe only seen them on TV."

"Sometimes," Ronan said, "you just step sideways, whether you want to or not." He grinned. "By which I mean stepping to the side into the next world over, not stepping to the left or right. And that's where they live."
