The park; Sunday Afternoon.

It was a nice day, so Setsuna had grabbed the first book of a new feudal-era series she was thinking of starting, found herself a nice spot underneath a shady tree, and settled in for some quiet reading that would allow her to enjoy the weather. She hoped maybe the fighting scenes would change her mind about relaxing and inspire her to relocate to the salle in not too long.

The approaching rumble should be familiar by now. So should the shout that went "BRADON'TMOVE!"

Yup. Setsuna didn't even wince...too much as she ducked her head slightly, making sure to mark her place in the book and closing her eyes, awaiting either the inevitable attempt at a jump or an unfortunate collision with a tree.

Jude cleared her with three inches to spare and stuck the landing with only minimal skidding on the grass. He pumped his fists in the air in victory.

Setsuna cracked open an eye; she'd been able to sense the movements well enough to judge how it was performed. "Nicely done, Jude," she complimented him, relaxing a little with a small smile.

"Thanks, bra." Jude scooped up his board and flopped down next to her, all gangly teenage limbs and a goofy smile.

"What're you up to?" Setsuna asked, marking her page and setting her book in her lap as she looked over at Jude beside her. "Just out enjoying the weather?"

"Yep! It's so warm here already." He chuckled a bit sheepishly. "I'm sorry I interrupted your reading . . ."

Shrugging a shoulder, Setsuna shook her head. "It was a boring part anyway," she said, dismissing the matter. "Filling the reader in on supposedly unknown history that I've read through thousands of times before."

"Then why were you reading it?"

"Because...um..."

Setsuna blinked. "Well, I don't know when it finishes this part. I might try to skip ahead and miss a very important battle or conversation. Plus, it's good to just read it, for me, because it's an English book, and it helps me with my reading of English."

"Oh." Jude mulled this over for a minute. "Okay, I get it!"

"Usually, the books I read are in Japanese, so..." Smiling a little, Setsuna shrugged. "I'm a little surprised it seems to be coming so easily, but I guess I year in an English-speaking country helps that a lot..."

"You seem to be doing pretty good?" Jude offered. "I would offer to help but I'm probably not too good at teaching."

"Reading's easy," Setsuna nodded. "It's the spelling that I find hard. And then the whole thing with there being so many meanings for things in English. I'm finally starting to get that not everything means what it might seem literally." She smirked slightly. "I'm sure we've encountered a few moments like that where the humour of something just gets lost in translation..."

Jude chuckled. "Yeah. English is totally weird sometimes."

"What were those other languages you knew? French and Polish, right?"

Setsuna'd just about have to punch herself in the face if she failed to remember the Polish. She definitely remembered the Polish....

"Well, I only kinda know French. But I can speak a buncha bird languages, too?"

"Oh! That's right! The bird languages!" Setsuna chuckled a little, hand to her forehead. "Oh, man, thank God for not turning into a crow anymore so I could actually be able to forget something like that."

"You stopped doing that?" he grinned. "Awesome!"

"Yeah, it was a while ago," Setsuna smiled lightly, while reminding herself not to think about the fact that, last she heard, that whole curse thing was still plaguing Ranma. "Covered in cold water, and yet still my same old self. Not sure exactly what stopped it, but I'm glad it's gone."

"Only thing I have to worry about now is that whole full moon werewolf thing..."

Jude's eyes widened and he shuffled a bit to the side. "Uh, bra?"

Setsuna slid one eye closed, looking over at Jude with the barest of a smirk. "Joking, Jude."

Jude slumped a little, but he was smiling. "Oh. Hey, that was totally harshing my mellow, bra. Don't joke around like that in this town."

Setsuna nudged him a little. "I'm just working on trying to get you back for all the times you've pulled something like that on me, that's all."

"Me?" Jude asked innocently.

"Yeah," Setsuna grinned. "You." She lifted her chin defiantly. "I've known you too long for that innocent act to work anymore, Jude."

"So I gotta figure out another innocent act to use on you?"

"Exactly," Setsuna nodded. "I am familiar with all your old techniques and have therefor built up a defense to them. You will have to learn new methods."

"Jude," Setsuna said, a bit sternly, "it's important to increase your catalogue of techniques."

"But I thought innocence was supposed to come so 'naturally' for you," Setsuna countered with another nudge.
