The Park, Thursday Afternoon

Bel was once again blowing off working in the afternoon. The weather wasn't particularly pleasant, but after the conversations he'd had with Angel and Anders yesterday, he was in a pretty damn good mood, smiling at nothing in particular as he walked through the park.

Isabel had been on her way to the Perk for a coffee when she spotted Bel in the park. "Hey stranger," she called.

"Hey, Isabel," Bel said. "You're looking lovely today, as usual."

"And you're as charming as always," she laughed. "What's up?"

"Not much," Bel said. "Just taking the afternoon off instead of working on rebuilding the school. You?"

"I'm pretty much being lazy and putting off packing," Isabel shrugged. "And I decided to go in search of coffee."

"Packing?" Bel said. "You're not trying to leave already, are you?"

"No, I'm just going to New York for the weekend with Peter and a few people," she explained. "It should be fun. I'll get to play tourist."

"That's cool," Bel said. "Peter Petrelli, huh?" He raised an eyebrow.

"No, the other one," she said innocently.

"How does Willow feel about that?" Bel countered.

Isabel laughed. "I actually was trying to imply the other, weirder one. But I think he left, because I haven't seen him around. But you were right the first time. It is Peter Petrelli."

"That was going to be my next guess," Bel said. "So is this just friends, or a weekend date. . . ?"

"Why does everyone ask that?" she sighed. "Does it matter?"

"Yes, because I want you to be happy," Bel said. "So if you're going with someone that you really care about, that's good."

"I'm going with a friend," Isabel replied, rolling her eyes. "Is that good enough?"

"As long as you have a good time," Bel said.

"I will. How about you? Any exciting weekend plans?" she asked.

"Not yet," Bel said. "But Anders said something about wanting to do something special for Phoebe."

"I'm sure she'd appreciate that," Isabel nodded. "So this whole three of you thing is working out? Aside for the random psychos in the woods that is?"

"So far, so good," Bel said. "I guess I wasn't expressing myself enough to Anders, but that's been taken care of."

"Expressing yourself? Is that a new euphemism I haven't heard yet?"

Bel snickered. "Not quite. He was upset I didn't tell him how I feel."

"How you feel?" she repeated slowly. "And exactly how do you feel about him?"

"I still feel really bad about what I did to him while I was the Source," Bel admitted. "I don't know how he managed to get passed that. But it's different now, and yeah, I care about him. I love him."

Isabel blinked, surprised. Bel had never, ever, been this open about his feelings before. "I don't understand it either, but I'd say your damn lucky."
