The Arms Hotel Lobby, Tuesday

Feeling much better than yesterday, Mary sat down at the front desk for her shift and started perusing the calendar, trying to decide when was the best date for the restaurant's grand opening. Instead, she noticed that next Monday was her birthday. Her thirtieth birthday, to be precise. She could either pretend it wasn't happening, or she could throw one huge party to jump start her event-planning business. So she started making phone calls for for for the big Age Is Just A Number party. Lots of phone calls.

"Gunther? Remember that time Sam's whale had that wedding reception for his daughter and a truckload of lobster got stolen? Do you think you can get that many lobsters again? Maybe we should order a crate of champagne too. Yes, I said champagne. No, just because I stopped drinking doesn't mean that other people won't drink it, but you'd better order some sparkling juice too."

In all of the frenzy, one of Gunther's assistants did remember to pull out the tables and chairs as well as the sign from yesterday. After all, there was still plenty of apple strudel left.

Welcome to the Arms Hotel!
Free Apfelstrudel today.

[OOC: If you didn't get a phone call, consider yourself invited anyway! I'm around for a while and then at work until late evening so mod Gunther or wait for SP.]

Stan showed up, rather dapper in a nice sportcoat and polo. It's nice not to wear a tie once in a while.

Stan wandered over to Mary, hoping to catch her attention.

"I certainly did. Unless you meant to call someone else, in which case I apologize for crashing," he said with a hint of a smirk.

"Of course! I'd be there with bells on, but that would just look silly."

"I did. Very nice. Gunther?" He waved at the food and at the general area of the kitchen.

"I can certainly agree with that," he said, nodding. "I fear I'll put on weight if I hang around you more," he teased.

"On that note, I may end up fattening you up, if I cook for you. I'm not exactly heart healthy all the time. Real bacon, real butter, real sugar. All the tasty things." He smiled.

"Nothing about taste. Which is why I've been exercising, taking walks along the beach. Stan cannot live by bread alone. There must be mayo and possibly some bacon or turkey." His face looked toooootally serious.

"Honey mustard or regular mustard? There is a difference, you know," he teased.

"Excellent! A woman after my own heart. And it doubles as a great dipper for cheese sticks and onion rings," he nodded sagely as the mun starts getting huuuungry

"They are appealing. And an important member of the fried foods family," he pointed out.

"And again, not healthy for blood pressure or cholesterol counts. But? Tasty. I have a Fry Daddy, if you want to borrow it. Or sneak over and try it sometime."

"Only if you could get away without cuckholding your chef," he said, smiling. "I'd love to have you over for dinner."

"Saturday night would be perfect. I have the weekends off," he said with a smile, "and no appointments until Tuesday. I can even sleep in."

"Considering that they've phoned it in for this week, and completely missed the last week, I'm sure it won't be a problem. I can set up a tape recorder to just repeat a 'Hmmmm' sound every two minutes and they wouldn't notice," he joked.

"I talk to them. It happens more often than you think. It's not common for people to skip appointments. Most people, at least." He bit his tongue before asking if she needed to talk.

"We certainly are. I might even cook you breakfast if you come over Sunday. Fishing optional this time," he said.

And totally glossed over the fact that he just offered to make her breakfast the morning after making her dinner. She looked... a bit distant.

"Excellent!" he said, flashing her a winsome grin. "If you have anything in particular you'd like to bring, you're more than welcome. I'll be bringing the onion rings."
