Caritas - Sunday evening [Open]

If last night's Steve Nicks experiment was terrifying, tonight was GOB's worst nightmare.

"Not ABBA! Anything but ABBA!" The zombies listened to GOB for once and started to play Rob Thomas music. "Okay," GOB said. "GO back to ABBA." Once again, the zombies listened.

It was the lesser of two evils to GOB.

Squall walked up to the band from the bar (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomtownies/1829467.html?thread=83820123#t83820123) with his gunblade casually resting on his shoulder. "Stop it," he said, quietly but firmly. "Play something that isn't crap."

Mary snickered. "I don't know if that's such a good idea. Who knows what they might start playing next?" she said.

Squall raised an eyebrow at her and smirked. "It can't be any worse. And if it isn't any better, I'll just stab them."

"Maybe they take requests?" suggested Mary. "It might be easier than stabbing them."

Squall shrugged. "I don't know any of your music here. YOU request something."

(She'd better have decent taste.)

Mary's taste might be questionable considering that she had been enjoying ABBA so far, but she was up to the challenge. As long as they didn't make her sing -- she wasn't brave enough for that.

"How do you feel about oldies?" she asked.

Squall facepalmed, and tried to explain more slowly. "I. Don't know. Your music." He shrugged. "'Oldies' better be good."

"They are, but I'd better warn you that I'm not singing." Mary was terrified of being on stage in front of people.

Holding her breath because she'd been warned about the smell, Mary approached the lead zombie to request A Little Less Conversation (http://www.absolutelyrics.com/lyrics/view/elvis_presley/a_little_less_conversation/). ~~Nothing wrong with her show's theme song, right?~~

"..."

Squall looked at her. "I never asked you to sing. I just want to be able to drink at the bar without my brain leaking out my ears."

"Elvis will not make your brain leak out of your ears. I promise," said Mary, crossing her heart.

Drink.

Fortunately, Mary was rather fond of ABBA. She had a big smile on her face as she ordered her usual club soda with lime.

[OOC: Yeah, I'm going to be slow responding tonight. I'm using the computer in my dad's office and it hates me.]

"Good evening, Mary," GOB said. "How are you tonight?"

"Not bad, just trying to pretend that I'm not actually turning 30 tomorrow," replied Mary.

"Thirty's not so bad," GOB said. "It's forty that you've got to worry about and you have plenty of time for that."

"I just never saw myself spending my birthday away from the people I love. It seems so strange every time I think about it," said Mary, looking sad. "But I'm hoping that throwing myself a huge party will make me feel better. Did you get my message? I wasn't sure whether or not to trust the phones again," she admitted with a wary smile.

"I did and I'll be there," GOB said ~~although the mun will be afk most of the day~~. "And don't worry, if I know the people here-" he really didn't "we'll make sure you you have so much fun you don't even think about where you came from. Isn't that right, Tino?"

Tino shrugged.

"Then I have something to look forward to tomorrow," said Mary before finishing off her drink. The thought of ordering another one with some vodka added was so tempting. It couldn't really hurt, could it?

She didn't really want to know. "I think I'll take a refill of the same," she said, passing her empty glass to Tino.

See Squall grab at GOB's shirt when he walks by. "What the hell is this crap?"

GOB dodged in a mildly flaily manner. "Booze?" he offered.

Squall facepalmed. "No, the booze is fine. The music is crap."

"It's disco," GOB said.

"Then it's crap disco," Squall grumbled. "Don't they know any other tunes?"

"All disco is crap," GOB said. "That's the point of disco. And if you want to talk them into playing something else, feel free to try."

Squall shrugged.

"Whatever," he said, and headed up to the stage.

Relax.

I saw Murial's Wedding today and this has been in my head ever since. I hope to infect others now.
