The Devil's Nest, Monday Night

After receiving a bouquet of flowers this afternoon. Lucifer left the bartending to Musubi as he headed for the lounge. It had been some time since he played.

Musubi? Still upset over not getting to kill the lizards. Poor Shiko-no-me.

She wasn't pleased over the children getting to fight more than her. No umbrellas for anyone tonight.

Where the master of the establishment played the piano.

Kabuto nodded to Musubi when he came in, but didn't try his luck at the bar. Knowing her, she was probably still annoyed from the Rock-Paper-Scissors fiasco a while ago. Best to avoid her.
He'd been making progress on the transformation scrolls he was studying, but was taking a break to see if he couldn't find his employer - Lucifer (almost) always provided a welcome distraction.

"You make that look so easy," the ninja commented, watching Lucifer play.

Glancing up slightly, Lucifer nodded at a nearby chair for the ninja to take a seat. "Practice."

"So I figured," Kabuto replied, sitting down obediently. "Most things are like that."

"Might I inquire as to what this visit is about?" He asked, continuing the same soft melody.

"Am I not allowed to come here?" Kabuto asked in return. "If you want me to leave, I can get back to my research."

"Did I say that?"

"You implied it." Kabuto shrugged. "And I'm polite. I know better than to insist on staying if I'm not wanted."

"Yes, always the polite one," Lucifer acknowledged dryly. He speed up the playing a touch. "What sort of research?"

"Of course; it wouldn't do for me to be rude, would it? Then I'd never be able to get my job done." Kabuto smirked slightly. "It's nothing important, just some practice in transformations that are purely chakra-controlled." Not that he would ever, ever do Naruto's signature 'sexy no jutsu'. But those sorts of techniques could be useful if mastered.

Though that might be interesting for Lucifer to see at least. Just a touch.

He frowned suddenly, eye's looking a touch strained before he got it under control. An annoying headache of sorts.

"And this is a break in your study I take it?"

"Yes," Kabuto said with a shrug. "I prefer coming here than to the common rooms in the dorms. My fellow students aren't nearly as interesting."

"No, I can't imagine they would be for your type," Lucifer replied with a smirk.

"My type?" Kabuto echoed, trying not to smile.

Lucifer stopped playing, turning to face Kabuto now. "Yes, your type. A beautiful little monster." He nodded toward Musubi. "I seem to attract them."

Kabuto couldn't keep himself from grinning, pushing his glasses up higher on his nose. "A monster, am I? There are some who would certainly agree with you."

"We're all monsters to a degree, boy. No one is innocent in this world or any other."

"Of course not. But some people fake it better than others." Kabuto crossed his arms, resting his chin on his hand.

"You," Lucifer said, standing up to walk over to Kabuto. "Are not one of them."

"No?" Kabuto asked, putting on his most innocent expression. "Not at all?"

Inhumanly strong fingers ran over his forehead, touching the protector there. "Not at all."

Kabuto looked up at Lucifer's hand, his glasses slipping a little. "Well, it was worth a shot. It worked in Konoha, anyway." He grinned, leaning back a little.

Lucifer reached down and adjusted Kabuto's glasses before taking a seat at the table. "You'll find me a bit harder to fool."

"I would be surprised if it were any other way," Kabuto admitted. "If you were that easy to fool, you wouldn't be who you are." He reached up, pulling off his forehead protector and looking down at the slightly scratched surface. Looking back up, he smirked. "I don't like people who are easily tricked."

The same touch of annoyance appeared in his features, not aimed at Kabuto, but there nonetheless. Eyes flashing dangerously, that was banished from his face as he leaned over to run his hand over the forehead protector, changing it to the symbol for Konoha and then back to the notes again.

"So you come here instead of speaking with your classmates."

Kabuto almost had to get annoyed at him; if Lucifer had permanently changed the symbol, he would have had to say something. "Yes. You should be pleased with yourself." The ninja chuckled softly. "I'd rather speak with you than them."
