Wine, Wenches 'n Whatever [afternoon]

Barbossa had discovered illegal music downloading (well...pirate) and had updated the radio archives with thousands of songs whose titles entertained him.

Because that's a way to pick out music.

He flicked on the microphone, spun around in his chair, and announced, "This be Barbossa, I be bored, so ye should call in wit' yer miserable problems 'n have me fix 'em. Or ask fer music."

Pause.

"Nothin' from the Sound o' Music. A pirate be havin' standards."

Hmm. Now I want a something rum-y and tropical to drink. I care not that it is 1:30.

Ring.

"This be the pirate," Barbossa replied.

"I have a song request pirate," Annette said. "And it's just for no one really but myself. It's Prince, Purple Rain. I feel like Prince today."

Eh, Turtle was bored. And? She had a thought that was bothering her.

Ring, ring!

"Have ye been feelin' the urge t' wear silly boots 'n go by a pretentious non-name as well?" Barbossa asked as he searched for the song. "If so, ye should duck yer head in a bucket o' water."

"Maybe a pretentious non-name; have you a suggestion? Or should I just dunk my head in a bucket of water anyway?" Not that she would really do that. She didn't even own a bucket.

"Mayhaps 'Semicolon'," Barbossa suggested. "No one else be usin' it these days."

"This be the pirate, ye be on th' air!"

"Arrrrg, greetin's, oh pirate!" Turtle said. "This be the Turtle. I don't have an advicy-question, just a question in general. Is that okay?"

Froggie called the Pirate.

"Semicolon? That's not very catchy; makes me think of an old lady. I don't know why."

"Fire away, wench!" Barbossa said jovially.

"This be the pirate!" Barbossa said. "What be ye wantin'?"

"Because ye be strange," Barbossa decided.

"So, tell me, Mister Barbossa," Turtle said, grinning maliciously into her phone, "how do you feel about the recent event of Mister Deadpool totally stealing your advice routine?"

Annette nodded, having to agree with the pirate. "I've tried to be normal and frankly I just get a little bored with that."

"He be a right bastard 'n no mistaken," Barbossa said snippily. "He be not even compensatin' me fer stealin' me idea! A barrel o' rum would be doin' wonders!"

"Oh, I think you should make it two barrels," Turtle insisted, doing her best (and failing a little) to keep from giggling. "Seriously, what's with the world today when intellectual property is so flippantly guarded? It's a travesty, I say. But it does seem a little...questionable, don't you think, that I pirate should have his ideas pirated. You aren't slipping, Mister Barbossa, are you?"

Sometimes, Turtle shouldn't be allowed to watch as many pundit shows as she does.

"Normal be terribly overrated, Semicolon."

"It's goin' straight t' hell 'n no mistakin'," Barbossa decided grouchily.

Because everyone knew he was the first person ever to come up with offering advice. Ever. Really.

"I be slippin' nowhere!" he insisted. "I be merely...bidin' me time. Aye."

"Biding your time?" Turtle asked. "Am I right to assume, then, a possible battle of the advice-givers?"

Such a thing made Turtle insanely giddy. Mwa ha ha. She was sure Mister Deadpool would thank her later.

"All right ye bearded bloke." She paused. "Are you going to play my song for me?"

"Oooooh," Barbossa said. "Aye. That be exactly what I were thinkin' o'."

No it wasn't, but "hitting Deadpool with a pie and poking him with a sword" was a dumb plan.

"I supooooooooooose," Barbossa said. "Here be 'Purple Rain,' which ye should not go out in, should it happen around here."

He flipped the song on.

And yet entirely acceptable and satisfactory.

Turtle nodded (as if it could be heard). "Well, I certainly can't blame you there. That's all I wanted to know, really..." She was already writing out her letter to Deadpool while she babbled slightly. "Good luck with that, always a pleasure to hear your show, hope you feel I'm doing a good job on radio, and I'll let you get back to your music-playing and your advice-giving!"

"Thaaaaaaank you!" Annette grinned and hung up so she could listen to her song on the radio.

"Thank ye, wench," Barbossa growled. "Lovely broadcast last night, by th' way."

"Oh, well, duh."

Barbossa burst out laughing. "Farewell, wench," he said, disconnecting the call.

"I'd like to request 'We Need a Hero', and dedicate it to the Fandom Squirrels for their bravery and hard work!"

"That be terrible sappy o' ye, but they be livin' in trees 'n appreciate that sort o' thing, I'm told," Barbossa said, pulling the song up.

"Yee! Thanks!"

Just because I have this question after returning from Disneyland but... does Barbosa have a first name!?

I ask because on the pirates ride they have everyone listed with their full names except him. XD

*sighs* Hector.

Not that he'll admit it.

Ahh... I see why they left it off then *nods*
