Café Fina, Thursday

Naminé hurried into Fina, blushing as she curtsied to the pepper-shaker and the cheese-grater. "My apologies," she said, then lied, "I simply lost track of the time."

She would be sure to stay late, just to even things out.

She lifted her pen and, after considering for a few moments, dashed out the Specials Board:

STAND UP
Fight against what you believe to be wrong
Make a difference. Be that difference.
Even if you think you will have no effect.
Silence never changed the world.

Café Fina was open.

Stan walked in to enjoy a meal. He was curious as to what the special Special was about.

"Welcome to Café Fina," Naminé said, giving the newcomer a welcoming smile and a curtsy. "My name is Naminé. Have you been here before? If not, I should warn you that the service is unusual, but unusual in the best of ways, and the food is exquisite."

"I believe I have," Stan said with a smile and a bow. "I was wondering... about your sign? Seems a bit unusual for a restaurant." His smile was warm, and he was so not working at the moment.

"I felt like expressing myself," she admitted with a light flush. "Normally I offer some sort of discount or dessert whenever I do so, but this time it seemed inappropriate. As though I was bribing people to do what they should do for themselves, I suppose."

"Do you think people will follow through? Heed your advice?" he said. "Is this related to the new principal?" He'd heard the radio. She seemed... a bit more confrontational than was necessary.

"I'm not certain if they will. Perhaps I said it more for me. Maybe saying it means something. Or maybe if everyone says it, someone may feel less alone to do the same." Naminé bit her lip thinking. "It is, but it isn't. I mean, that's who it's about today, I suppose, as she is what brought it to my mind. But she's certainly not the only reason."

Stan~~'s mun totally shouldn't have been clicking on Les Mis cuz now that song is earwormed~~ gave her a smile. "And has it helped you, today?"

"I'm not sure. I went to someone today and spoke my mind, and probably did nothing but waste my breath and her time. But it felt good to know that, if nothing else, I'm not simply letting things happen around me. I've tried, however futilely, to stop it. So I suppose it did."

"There are many quotes that basically say, when boiled down, silence means agreement. Please, continue to voice your disagreement. It may only be hot air, but it may change someone's mind. Plus, it's generally a good idea to vent once in a while. Relieves stress," he said with a chuckle.

"As I said," Naminé smiled, "I may not have accomplished anything, but if I did nothing else - and I doubt that will be the case - I would still be able to say that I stood against this. And my apologies, I am standing here prattling on. Would you like to come in and sit down?"

"I would be pleased. And I'd like an extra large order of the special," he said, smiling at the sign. "It's good to see someone standing up for beliefs."

Naminé laughed. "Right this way." She handed him a menu with a smile. "The special is, thankfully, free. And thus, hopefully, will be found in abundance."

(Night!)

"I look forward to the bounty. I'll pass it along whenever I have a chance, about the special. Could start a whole new eating revolution."

Stan ordered some pasta to go with the special.

And speaking your mind ruins everything if your mind happens to be terribly mistaken.

Valentine couldn't help but swallow a lump in his throat before heading in to Fina to ~~say hello to Naminé~~ eat. Valentine liked eating.

"Valentine," Naminé said, with a nod of her head. "Welcome to Café Fina. Have you been here before?"

"I haven't," Valentine confessed. "I have to admit, I was curious. And your sign is something of an attention-getter, isn't it?"
He looked around for a moment, taking in the decor. Pleasant place, really. Nice, normal servers. He couldn't complain.
"I hear the food is good?"

"It was something I felt needed to be said," Naminé shrugged. "You can stand idly by while wrong is done, but then you're almost complicit. Speaking your mind is always preferable. I had words with that horrid principal woman this morning, have you met her?"

"I haven't met her, myself," Valentine said with a shake of his head. "But I have heard her announcements. She must be entirely mad to think that a bunch like these students will sit idly by and stand for her lunacy."

"I suppose she believes we shall have to," Naminé said crisply. "I may have done nothing, and I believe I accomplished little, but at least I spoke up. She's hoping to send the non-humans home. What a small-minded bigot."

Valentine stared at her incredulously for a moment.
"There are students here who aren't human?"
Okay, so he had noticed the turtles. And the hairy little red guy and even the frog. But they were the normal ones where he was from, really, and it hadn't even occurred to him that normal didn't necessaruly mean human.
"Why would she want to send them home?"

"Because she fears what is different, like all petty individuals," Naminé said. "She believes herself superior based on no evidence and would bully the school into compliance with her every whim. What utter nonsense. As if one's species affects one's ability to perform magic, fight against evil, or choose between light and dark."

Alea says we shouldn't end the world, and I always listen to cats.

Wow. Pinging into Fina feels weird.

But shiny!
