Tori opened up the bookstore, thankful that the spell Umbridge had cast on her had worn off yesterday. She set out the refreshments and took a seat behind the counter.

She attempted to read but she was distracted by what might happen to Phoebe if she went to see Umbridge.

Luke hustled into the book store immediately after his explosions class.

"She didn't hurt you?"

Luke believed that small talk was overrated.

"She thought I might enjoy a twitchy ears hex for a few hours," Tori replied, frowning slightly. "It could've been worse, really," she attempted to make light of what had happened.

Luke very clearly wasn't buying it. "What brought her punishment on, anyway? Did she give an explanation?"

"She accused me of lying and said she wouldn't stand for it," Tori grimaced. "That I should be punished for my lies."

Luke glanced down at the back of Tori's hand, checking for anything nasty. "And making your ears twitch is supposed to discourage lying?" he asked. "That makes no sense."

"I guess so," Tori shrugged. "It really doesn't," she shook her head. "But I guess it makes her feel like she has power over us. When we know it's not true," Tori scoffed.

"I'm worried about the people that were called into her office today and what she might've done to them. Especially Phoebe and Gavin," she admitted. "I feel like I got off easy," she'd noticed the glance at her hand and wondered what that was about.

"She touches a hair on Gavin's head and she'll regret it," Luke said, looking pissed. "I owe his cousin my life. A substitute teacher on a power trip doesn't get near him."

Tori was surprised at how angry Luke looked. She couldn't remember ever seeing him like that. "She'll have me to deal with, as well. She's messed with too many of my friends for me to sick back and do nothing. Especially if something's happened to Phoebe," she vowed. You did not mess with a fellow cheerleader and graduate, no way.

"Just walking up and demanding that she stop isn't going to work, though," Luke said. "We'll need a better plan."

No, it most certainly won't do the trick," Tori admitted, smiling ruefully. "I talked to Hermione this morning and she said for punishment Umbrige issues, she's going to send something back at her. Try and annoy her out of the school. It's a start."

Luke pressed his lips together and nodded. "I can do annoying."

Obi-Wan and Yoda, somewhere, were nodding their agreement without knowing why.

"As can I," Tori smiled, thinking of how Dustin and Shane acted. Oh yes, she could certainly pass for annoying. "So, aside from the whole Umbridge mess, how are you?"

"Fine," Luke said with a small smile. "It was a quiet weekend. Your ears have stopped twitching? How long did that take?"

"That it was," Tori grinned. "Oh! I went to King's Dominion on Saturday, with Billy and a couple other people, that was fun. I got you something, but it's currently sitting on my desk," she had remembered that suddenly. "They have, yes. It took a couple of hours, and it took all I had to sit there and not hold them still."

"You got me something?" Luke gave her a soft smile. "You didn't have to do that."

He leaned over and kissed her cheek, then, blushing, nipped at an earlobe. "I like them better when they're still."

"I did," Tori nodded, smiling. "I know but I wanted to."

She blushed, smiling sheepishly. "So do I." Lame response, Tori.

Luke leaned in to kiss her. "Thank you in advance," he murmured.

"You're welcome," Tori whispered before kissing him.

Luke wrapped his arms around her and held on tightly. "Anything else I can do?"

Tori held on just as tight. She wasn't so sure she wanted to let go. "Just being here helps," she admitted, quietly.

"I'm practically an expert at hugs," Luke said, rubbing her back.

That caused Tori to smile. "I won't argue that," she chuckled.

Luke kissed her forehead. "That would be pretty much the stupidest argument ever," he agreed.

"And I know stupid arguments," Luke said with a rueful smile. "I started a lot of them with Uncle Owen."
