Fandom Post Office, Tuesday, 8/14

Annette woke up on the wrong side of the bed. She was moody but so far has only argued with her cat, which probably lasted longer than it should have. Sadly, it gave her no gratification at all.

She dumped a bag of Red Hots into a bowl and set them on a counter with a note that read: MINE! She was not in a sharing mood today. She also set out the bell with a note that read: Once is enough. Do not test me!

Then she sauntered off to the back to find something to do. Maybe she could argue with Gladys. Probably wouldn't work but she could try. Annette just wanted to argue dammit.

The Post Office is open.

On his way to meet with Ms. Stayton, Adam stopped by the Post Office. He had a couple letters to send off.

Noticing the two signs, Adam rang the bell only once, wondering what was up.

Ah, one bell ringer meant there was someone smart out there. Very good.

Annette came walking out, dark smudges on her cheeks and hands. "Oh. Hey, Adam." She narrowed her eyes at her bowl of candy, seeing if there was a dip anywhere.

"What can I do for you?"

"Hey, Annette," Adam smiled at her. He noticed her look at the candy bowl. "I was hoping to get these mailed out?" He held up three letters. "I wasn't sure where to put them, honestly."

Adam would be totally okay with Annette making fun of him for that, should she want to. "You okay?"

She gave him a look and took the letters from him, managing to get dirty smudges all over them. Then she tucked them in her back pocket and reached for her candy bowl, popping a few in her mouth. "I'll take care of them, no problem Adam. Anything for you." Chomp. Chomp.

"But that's kind of like my job. You know. Post office and all." She popped a couple more Red Hots in her mouth. "Are you okay?" What? She could ask since he asked. And he could totally give her the third degree for attitude too. She wouldn't mind that one bit.

"Thanks Annette," Adam managed, not sure why she was responding the way she was. "Yeah, I'm fine," he nodded, slightly worried.

"Did you have a run in with the oh so lovely principal?" Yes, that last part was heavy with sarcasm. "Because if she did anything to you? I'll march myself into her office and give her a piece of my mind." Why, yes, this was an angry Adam, as one could tell by his tone and frown.

What? It could be a spell. Maybe?

She scrunched up her brow. "That stupid pink woman! She cast a spell on me and made me dance stupid for hours! I don't like her." She took a deep breath and noticed how angry he was. She rather liked that. People need to get angry about that terror of a woman!

"Did she do something to you? We should string her up by her toes and make her count backwards."

"She what?!" Oh, hell no. Adam did not like that at all. "She had no right to do that to you, Annette." Yes, now he was fuming.

"No, she hasn't. Not yet, anyway. But I half expect to be called in any day now. Since, I haven't really paid attention to her stupid decrees."

"I think she does anything she wants, Adam. She is the devil." Annette nodded her head. "I pranked her office you know. And I don't really care if she knows it. She deserved it." She shoved a handful of Red Hots in her mouth and ignored how her eyes started to water.

"She shouldn't be able to," Adam frowned. "Yeah, I'm getting that now," he nodded. She needed to be stopped. But what could he do? "You did? Good for you!" Adam smiled, proud of Annette. "I think I might try to come up with something like that, but different. I wouldn't want to steal your thunder," he teased, lightly.

"Won't steal my thunder, Adam. I think lots of people have been getting her office. The more the merrier if you ask me," she said, frowning still.

"This day sucks." Yeah. Out of nowhere.

"Okay," Adam nodded, smiling slightly. His smile faded when he heard her next statement. "What happened?" He became worried.

"Nothing," Annette stated simply. "Angel wouldn't argue back with me this morning."

"Oh, okay," Adam accepted her answer, though he honestly didn't know who Angel was. "If you're sure," he offered her a small smile.

"I'm sure she wouldn't argue back. She's a cat after all." Annette shook her head. "As if. I just wanted her to, you know?"

"No, she definitely wouldn't," Adam smiled lightly. "Yeah, I can understand that."

"Do you like to argue sometimes, Adam? You seem like such a nice guy. Always smiling, almost always happy. You'd make a great boyfriend."

"I guess, if it's something worth arguing about," Adam admitted. "Thanks, Annette," he blushed ever so slightly. He wasn't used to such compliments, especially from the opposite sex.

"Yes, there has to be a point to arguing, doesn't there?" She seemed to think about that and smeared the grunge on her cheek a bit with her fingers.

She gave him a bright smile all of a sudden. "You're welcome, Adam. It's true you know. Do you have a girlfriend yet?"

"There should be, yes," Adam chuckled. "Though it doesn't always turn out that way."

He smiled and shrugged. "Kind of?" He really didn't know if they were 'official' but he'd been meaning to ask her. "I've been seeing this girl, Eve Levine. She's really great and I like her a lot." And to think, she liked him just as much.

She waggled her brows. "That is so cool. Isn't she Savannah's cousin? I've seen her at cheerleading practices before. She's very pretty, Adam."

"Yes, she is," Adam nodded. "She's really pretty, yeah," he smiled, agreeing with her wholeheartedly.

"You look entirely happy, Adam," Annette noted with a grin.

Adam grinned. "I am happy," he admitted.

"Well, it has worn off onto me and I'm grinning now. I just might have to be in a bad mood later."

"Ha! My plan worked!" Adam winked, laughing lightly. He really hadn't had a plan at all. But he was glad that Annette was better. "Well, maybe Angel will argue back later?" He teased.

She laughed. "Your plan? This was all a ruse to get me to smile or something?" Annette giggled and reached for the letters in her back pocket. "Are these even real?"

"Possibly?" Adam tried to smile innocently. Really, he did. "Yes, those letters are real," he laughed.

"Adam, you are sweet and I'm glad you came in here today." She tucked the letters back away to make sure they got dropped in the sorting engine.

Adam smiled brightly, blushing slightly. "Thanks Annette," he meant it. "Anything for a friend."

Boys were so cute when they blushed. "You're welcome but I think it's me who should be thanking you. I was in a rotten mood and now feel better. Here," she shoved her bowl of candy across the counter. "Have some Red Hots."

"I'm very happy to hear that, Annette," Adam grinned and took a couple of Red Hots. "Thanks."

"You're welcome," she said and popped a few more into her mouth too.

Annette's Red Hots are safe from her.

Be using them if you need them.
