The Arms Hotel Lobby, Saturday afternoon

The kitty was still frolicking around the lobby as the staff set up afternoon tea. They felt that it was what Mary would have wanted if she wasn't currently a feline.

The menu was the same as previous weeks with one exception. By request, Gunther had added mini cheesecakes to the list of available pastries.

Welcome to the Arms Hotel!
Join us for afternoon tea.

Free dessert if you can figure out how to change our manager back into her old self.

Stan, over the course of the handwavey conversation with Gunther, learned that the fuzzy orange cat he took with him to his office at the Clinic, and vented some concerns to, was... actually... one of those concerns.

Woe.

Stan drank a lot of tea. Gunther may have placed something not quite tea-like yet still distilled in Stan's blend because he needed it.

"Mary? I'm sorry. I said things that you were not necessarily meant to hear." Such as comparing the respective charms of Mary and Millie. He sipped more (alcoholic) tea.

"Although you may have the advantage on adorableness," he said, leaning over to skritch. "And please don't tell me Millie's standing behind me to hear that."

Okay, adorable or not, Stan missed having a Mary that was more...talkative, albeit less likely to purr. It was a bit hard to have a conversation with someone whose breath smelled of tuna. And had a penchant for shedding. Cutely shedding, but still...there was easily enough fluff to make a clone of kitty!Mary.

"Gah! Wait, kitty--"becuase he was not calling her Mary right now--"you're gonna hurt yourself."

He facepalmed.

"Well, hello there, kitty," John said. "It's a shame that Mary's not here. You're so cute!" Scritch. Scritch skritch scritchscritchscritch. "I miss her."

John was silly. And wondering how embarrassing it would be to offer skritches to Human!Mary.

Okay, now he was thinking about it. And kinda blushing.

[my own kitty is demanding scritches!]

And John would have been offended, because he was offering chaste, friendly ear rubs. Or maybe a back massage. Or something.

Anyways, it wouldn't be the same unless Mary was dressed up in a catsuit chasing toy mice or something. And then that'd be weird.

[and yes, caught that part of the episode where the other gal's dressed in the mrrrowr bunny suit]

Sadly, John had never learned to speak Kitten, so he didn't know his Can I Has Cheesebuger Tiem from his Noooo! They Be Stealin' Mah Bukket!, unfortunately. He did move the creamer aside to pour a bit of water into a saucer for her.

John upended another cup and poured a bit of creamer into the saucer, eyebrow raised.

[I'm going to shoot pool. So have fun! :D]
