The Arms Hotel Lobby, Tuesday

Nana practically bounced into the hotel today, her tongue flopping into various corners of her mouth. It was making some of the staff nervous, but Jeff didn't notice, because he was getting out the specials board from behind the desk.

Only to have it pulled violently out of his hands by an irate German chef, who stormed back into the kitchen holding the board while spitting out curses left and right. Jeff stared after him, open mouthed. For a moment, he was completely and utterly speechless - something which up until now, no non-female had ever managed to achieve.

Then he leapt up from behind the desk. "YOU CAN'T DO THAT!" he declared loudly, gesturing like a maniac, "I HAVE RIGHTS!"

His only answer was another stream of German curses and a slamming door.

[ the arms hotel is open! ]

Which was a very strange coincidence, because sometime just before halfway into the day, Trenor, bored, had unlatched his stall and gone wandering.

Right into town.

He stopped dead, ears pricked forward, staring in astonishment when he saw the hairy thing.

Maybe it wanted to play?

It did want to play!

Trenor tossed his head, making his mane fly, and trotted forward, bouncing and prancing excitedly.

He had been very bored up in the stable. This was much more fun, even if the hairy thing smelled a little strange.

Horses couldn't raise one eyebrow (because they didn't actually have eyebrows), but they could curve one ear backwards, and Trenor did exactly that and slowed, peering at hairy thing doubtfully.

It was very loud. He shook his head again and pawed the ground, letting out a loud whinny.

OKay, barking was definitely not one of his favourite things. Trenor flattened both ears and glared, head snaking low to the ground as he trotted forward a few steps.

He wasn't really threatening her, not really, he had better manners than that, but the noise was just too much!

That was much better! It was a good hairy thing, and smart!

Ears pricked once more, Trenor walked forward, nose outstretched, and whickered his approval.

And bounced, tail flared. Maybe now they could play!

Eager not to be left behind, he broke into a slow canter and followed her, whinnying again.

This was an excellent game!

Bad Gunther! He's just asking for trouble.
