The Perk - Tuesday Late Morning
After leaving a message, Wilson gathered up his class material and headed down to the Perk to work on his lesson plans for a bit.
There was just something about coffee, comfy chairs and that coffeehouse atmosphere that tended to be good for working on academic projects.
Getting himself a quad latte, he headed for a quiet corner by the windows and spread out all his coursework across a couple of low tables. Kicking back in the comfortable chair with his legal pad, pen and coffee he got to work while he waited.
[ooc: Wilson is here to meet someone but if you wish to poke at him before that or otherwise use the Perk for your own caffiene/academic withdrawal needs, feel free. :)]

"Good morning, Aly. I am, thank you. Let me grab you a chair."
Suiting action to words, he moved towards one of the other comfortable looking chairs and wrestled it over towards where he'd made himself a little work nest.
"Did you want anything with your coffee? Pastry?"

"To an extent. The class I'm teaching, I'm going to have to carefully mold some of the classes to the individual students, depending upon what range of super enhanced inate skills and powers they have but I won't know that till I meet them. How about yourself?"

Then he sat forward, looking a bit more pensive.
"My class, I want them to be pushed to use what's innate to them, in ways they might not have considered, so I want to be able to design scenarios where they have to think their way through a solution, not just ... fireball, magic shield or shoot their way out. So, I guess that's what I mean by a molding a bit. Making sure every student has a chance to apply themselves."
Pausing, he grinned a bit wryly.
"Yes, I'm going to encourage them to be even more independent ... what am I thinking?"

Aly shook her head. "They need to be as independent as possible. It's not like we're teaching children. I'm barely six years older than some of them."

Picking up his legal pad, he looked at the notes he had written down on it thoughtfully and then back up to Aly.
"My purpose for calling you down here though. I was looking over your class on the schedule and thinking about mine and I wondered if you might be interested in having a joint class, towards the end of the semester. We could pair our students up, come up with some scenarios, maybe get some help from other faculty members for actual application and give the kids some practical exercises to really dig in to?"

"I was planning on practical exercises throughout," she said. "But that could possibly be interesting. What type of scenarios were you thinking of?"
no subject
"Well I know I'm going to do one class on working out riddles and a couple on how to adapt seemingly unrelated every day items into tools you might need in a pinch, so my initial thoughts would be to make sure the scenario as a whole has a good balance of using brains and brawn. Most of my classes are individual challenges but I also have one framed up on the importance of working together, if you have people with you."

"Okay, sounds like we have the makings of a plan!"
