Evie smoothed down the skirt of her dress, and then smiled at Sokka as they approached the entrance to the restaurant. "Thank you so much for inviting me out for my last night here, Sokka. I don't think I've had Chinese food in ages."

Sokka grinned at her. "I don't think I've ever had..." he began, and then he sniffed at the air. "That smells familiar..."

"Does it?" Evie asked as they walked in the door, looking around at the decor. "Oh, how nice. Yes! I remember now. Quite some time ago, when someone ordered a great deal of food for the Common Room. Spicy and rather awkward to eat. What is it that it reminds you of?"

"No, it sort of smells like Ba Sing Se," Sokka mused. "Except not... Never mind! Let's just eat stuff and have a nice night!" He frowned at her. "You can't be gone TOO long, okay?"

"I swear," Evie said earnestly, as the hostess gathered menus and lead them to a table. "I shall only be gone a week. I will be back here next Tuesday without fail, no matter what. I shall find portals or flying carpets if I have no other choice." She settled into her seat and patted his arm. "But I miss my parents too much to pass this chance up."

"Okay," Sokka said, and he leaned in and kissed her cheek. "But I'm going to hold you to that. You come back on Wednesday, and I'm going to be very disappointed in you."

Evie sighed hugely. "Oh dear. Then I shall have to pay some kind of forfeit, if I dare let you down." She gave him a mischievous look as the server brought their tea. "You decide what kind."

Sokka smirked back at her. "I decide, really?" he asked, in a slow, smooth voice. Then he turned bright red. "I mean... Uh. Oh, look! Tea!" He took a big sip.

"Tea!!" Evie agreed, slightly breathless. And gulped a huge swallow of rose tea. "Ahem. Ahem. Yes. Anyway! Food. We love food. And I think the spring rolls are excellent."

"Spring rolls, yes!" Sokka said, blushing furiously. "And food! I love food! ... Hey! I can read the menu!"

"Oooo!" Evie leaned forward, fascinated as always by all things linguistic. "You can read Cantonese? Really? What does that say?"

"'Chicken with vegetables.' Verrrrry descriptive." He looked over the menu some more. "Who's General Tso?"

"Not entirely certain. A historic figure, I think?" Evie said dubiously. China was so not her field. "But this is amazing! It's a very very hard language to learn." She gave Sokka an admiring look.

"Language?" Sokka asked. "No, it's just a different way of writing. Back home, everybody writes like this." He looked over the menu some more. "'Dragon and phoenix'... That sounds pretty awesome, doesn't it? I'll have that."

Evie squeezed his arm. "Could you find me something with lobster sauce?" she asked hopefully. "And ooooo, dragons. Which one is the symbol for that?" she asked, leaning closer.
