Our Lady of Fandom, Tuesday all day

Gabriel tried again to tape the broken window shut. It still didn't work, and unfortunately the weather was getting worse. He kicked the wall, which made his foot hurt as well, and decided to make himself a coffee.

[The church is open]

After second period, Annette made a mad dash for the church. Not seeing anyone immediately, she called out, "Hello? Father? Anyone?"

"What?" She was taken off guard. "No, I mean, I can hang curtains."

[identity profile] misshargrove.livejournal.com 2007-09-11 12:45 pm (UTC)(link)
She looked over and her bottom lip wibbled. "N-no... I... I CAN'T FIX A BROKEN WINDOW!" Annette might be suffering from emotional stress right now.

"Then HELP me! It's your job! I... I need to confess," she said, ignoring the fact that this man really freaked her out.

She didn't move. "But... but the confession box?"

[identity profile] misshargrove.livejournal.com 2007-09-11 01:07 pm (UTC)(link)
This was strange. This was not right. Was he lying? The priest was lying to her? How did that work? She saw the confession box. It was there...right there! "Are you claustrophobic, father?"

[identity profile] misshargrove.livejournal.com 2007-09-11 01:14 pm (UTC)(link)
She would have reached out to him but she was the one in pain; she was the one who needed help. "I won't. I promise. So I will sit in the pew right behind you, that way you cannot directly see me." There really was no point in that now, but whatever. Annette moved to do just that.

Annette hung her head, hands in lap. "Bless me father for I have sinned. It's been..." she paused, thinking about when her last confession was. "...a freaking long time since my last confession. I... I did something terrible last night. No. That's not quite right. It wasn't terrible but it was wrong. Yes. It was wrong..."

"I... kissed a boy." Sniffle.

[identity profile] misshargrove.livejournal.com 2007-09-11 01:42 pm (UTC)(link)
"What?" Her head snapped up. "I'm only seventeen."

[identity profile] misshargrove.livejournal.com 2007-09-11 01:48 pm (UTC)(link)
"No! No... no... we're just friends!" What was wrong with this man of the cloth?

[identity profile] misshargrove.livejournal.com 2007-09-11 01:58 pm (UTC)(link)
"I know... but that really isn't all of my confession. I kissed this other boy when I already have a boyfriend!" Sniffle sob.

[identity profile] misshargrove.livejournal.com 2007-09-11 02:03 pm (UTC)(link)
"Because I'm a 'hoooooo!" she cried.

[identity profile] misshargrove.livejournal.com 2007-09-11 02:12 pm (UTC)(link)
"No, just once." she said rather simply. "Last night. Okay, it was more than one kiss. Does God care how many times?"

[identity profile] misshargrove.livejournal.com 2007-09-11 02:18 pm (UTC)(link)
"That's bad enough I think," she whispered. "So what is my penance?"

[identity profile] misshargrove.livejournal.com 2007-09-11 02:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Hail Mary's she can understand. But hymn books? He's got to be kidding right?

No. A man of the cloth would not joke about something like this. "Yes, father." Annette crossed herself and stood up and gathered as many books as she could carry.

"What if I'm... rebuked, or whatever?"

[identity profile] misshargrove.livejournal.com 2007-09-11 02:34 pm (UTC)(link)
"No," she muttered, defeated. "It shouldn't." She started to shuffle down the aisle, towards the church doors.

"Thank you, father."

Her head hung lower, well at least until her chin rested on those books.

For some reason, he didn't make her feel at all better.

Annette made her way back to her dorm room just as fast as her feet would take her.
