The Park, Sunday Afternoon (09/16)
Aziraphale was pretty certain he'd only managed to convince Lucifer to come sparring with him because the Adversary figured it would be the easiest way to get him to shut up about it. It wasn't like anyone had any doubts that one of them would be getting their arse kicked, and it wouldn't be the retired Prince of Hell. But Aziraphale also figured it would be a good learning experience for him. After all, if he was going to continue getting into fights with godlings and the angry shades of the divine dead, it might behoove him to get used to fighting something a great deal stronger than him.
Also, for some reason, Wilson was very decidedly behind this plan, and probably wouldn't have let the angel back down from it anyway.
So there they were, wings flared and swords flashing, dueling in the middle of the park.
[ooc: Sparring is for the two angels only, but the post is open for anyone to stop and watch -- they might even take a minute to talk -- or to use for other non-sparring purposes. They're only using one small section of the park, so feel free to not notice if you prefer.

It was almost amusing how seriously the other angel seemed to take this.
"Out of practice is an understatement, I think."

Not to mention that for most of that time, he hadn't even had the sword. Details, really.
He hovered right on the edge of making a feint to one side, and then at the last minute decided to go with a slashing attack toward Lucifer's chest.

"Being demoted rather negated most of the need for vigilance on my part," he remarked. "And until I came here, I was doing a good job at keeping a low profile."

"You think I should have been doing more of this, and less hiding behind my books."

"I was doing good works, you know," he protested, quickly bringing his own weapon up to parry, his wings flaring outward to maintain balance against the force of the blow. "The little things are important too."

"But you still think I was wasting my time."

"I did earn a small promotion, after all that with the balrog. At the end of my last time here," he said, as if hoping Lucifer might approve of that.

The Peanut Gallery
Wilson had a picnic basket fill with a bottle of white wine and a glass. No reason really.
Blanket laid out beneath a tree that allowed shade and a good view of the proceedings, the mortal was stretched out on the blanket, sipping from his glass of chilled white while he shamelessly watched the two angels spar.
It was a very nice view indeed.
...
Very.Nice
Re: The Peanut Gallery
Honestly, he acted as it this was something special.
Re: The Peanut Gallery
He may also have found the very pleased vibes resonating off the mortal to be the teeniest bit distracting.
Re: The Peanut Gallery
absphysical display. It was genuinely fascinating to see what did and did not seem to work in Phale's attacks against the Morningstar.
Re: The Peanut Gallery
So far, Lucifer hadn't sent him sprawling on his ass, so he counted that as a good showing.
Re: The Peanut Gallery
It was good to see Phale work his way through Lucifer's distraction techniques, a learning experience for both of them it seemed.
Re: The Peanut Gallery
Also, although he wasn't yet ready to show it, that strike had punched his temper up just a bit.
Re: The Peanut Gallery
So long as Phale didn't let his emotions rule him, a bit of anger and intensity could bring a new layer to the sparring.
Re: The Peanut Gallery
"Your mean boyfriend knocked me down."
Re: The Peanut Gallery
He was soaking in the actions of the sword, as well as the handsomeness of the pressence at the same time. He could multitask like that, after all.
And ... well, damn straight he was ogling but he did so quietly.
