Hoshi came in for her shift and sat down at the front desk. She was warily keeping an eye on Gunther, who was sitting around the lobby keeping an eye on her. This went on for five minutes before Hoshi finally asked him, in German, "//Would you like me to show you a Japanese dish?//"

That was all she needed to say. Gunther was thrilled to find someone else who spoke German and would not shut up as Hoshi taught him the fine art of making gyoza.
