Arms Hotel Lobby, Tuesday

Jeff was sleeping on the desk today.

This was because he had gotten in several hours early to escape the dog.

Unfortunately for him, Nana eventually pried open the door, slipped inside, and sat down cheerfully by his side.

And barked. A lot.

Or don't. He's alternating attempted naps with excessive headdesking and the occasional panic attack.

River had no classes so she decided to stop by the hotel and talk to her fellow Union member. His current mood made her wince, however, so she waved to the dog.

The dog panted happily back in her general direction.

Jeff snored. A lot.

River decided Jeff probably needed his sleep and walked up to Nana and sat down in front of her, trying a small howl.

Nana panted happily at River some more. Then returned the favor by making small, high-pitched howling noises.

River grinned, scratched Nana behind the ear and howled some more.

Nana howled enthusiastically along. Really loudly. Loud enough to make some of the hotel staff jump.

Jeff fell off the desk.

River gave Jeff a worried glance, but that didn't stop her from howling with her friend Nana.

Jeff crawled up from behind the desk and shot Nana (and River, by proxy) a glare. "That's not fair," he said, "I can't go anywhere any more."

"You will have to join in," River replied. "That makes all the difference." She smiled happily at Jeff. "Bad day?"

"She won't stop," Jeff whimpered, "If it's not howling, it's her nose in my ear or her paws on my boys! I haven't slept in days!"

"Resisting too hard," River said. "Have to join forces. Howl, nose, paws. Payback." She was actually quite serious.

Jeff stared at her. "I can't," he said. "There's too many variables."

River gave him a concerned look. "Trick is not to be overwhelmed. Look at one of them at a time."

"But I don't want to be bad," Jeff said, desperately, "Those sound like bad things to do and I don't know how to be bad, I've never been bad, I just want her to stop. Can't you talk to her?"

River patted Nana. "Not bad, just different. Change of perspective needed." River grinned. "Am talking. Singing. We agree."

It's probably a good idea today. Even if the barking does carry.

I leave for a week tomorrow. *collapses*
