JGOB- Sunday afternoon

Aeryn liked the normalcy of being back in Fandom, and yes, Fandom was normal for her. She liked being able to do things like not have to serve anyone anything, or repress homicidal urges about... well, anyone, and she liked being able to talk to her friends without having a couple states between them.

Or, at least, she'd like the last thing more when Anakin joined her.

Anakin came sweeping into the bakery, robe curling around his ankles at the speed of his pace. "I'm not late, am I?" he checked. "I was talking with Callisto. It took a little longer than I'd expected."

"Not a problem," she assured him with a little smile. "Everything all right?"

"It's Callisto," Anakin said, eyes a little troubled, "so it's...complicated." He looked around the bakery, clearly looking for a change of subject. "Want to split something? Most of the pastries here are a little too sweet for me." He smiled. "Which is practically blasphemous to Rory."

She nodded. "Pick what looks good," she said. "And Rory lives off coffee, I don't think we can judge my her tastes."

After a moment's perusal of the selections, Anakin returned with a cranberry and apple tart and two forks.

"Will this do?" he asked, sliding into a chair across from her.

"It should," she said, taking one of the forks. "How's the weekend been?"

Anakin gave her a brilliant smile. "Fine."

He looked much happier than just fine.

"It worries me when you smile like that," she told him.

Anakin smiled again. "I don't mean to worry you," he said. "Rory...she decided to give me another chance."

Aeryn raised her eyebrows. "Really this time?"

Anakin beamed. "She knows everything and loves me anyway. I'm far too lucky."

The eyebrow hadn't been unraised yet. "If you two break up again in a couple of weeks, I'm never speaking to either of you again," she warned.

"We won't," Anakin said, poking at the tart with his fork. "I have a feeling about this. And not one that's waiting for the other boot to drop."

"Good," she said, and paused. "What about a boot?"

"Sorry," Anakin said, "a feeling like something bad is going to happen next."

He smiled at her. "One of these days you should teach me Sebacean idioms."

"But all of ours make sense," she said, the corners of her mouth twitching up.

"Of course they do," Anakin said, clearly humoring her.

She pointed her fork at him. "I do have a weapon, you know."

"Your fork wielding skills are truly terrifying," Anakin teased.

Knowing full well that he was one of about three people on the planet who could even think about teasing Aeryn.

"This is the second time this weekend my skills with cutlery have come up in conversation," Aeryn realized.

Anakin blinked. "Seriously?"

[can_be_more]

"Angel brought up knives in the context of my job," she explained.

[sith_happened]

"You haven't, right?" Anakin asked carefully. "I'm sure they deserved it if that's not the case..."

[can_be_more]

"No, I really need the job," Aeryn said. Now more than ever. "Which means I had to find a really good gym nearby, just so I could hit things afterwards."

"You're okay, though?" Anakin checked, eyes locking on hers. "Because I have no problem becoming a commuter to spar against you if you need it."
