Fandom Post Office, Monday, 10/8

Annette slept too much this weekend if that was possible; she was awake and ready to go today, sipping on a hot white chocolate mocha and occassionally talking to Not Tiddles who was sprawled on the counter as was her norm.

She set out a bowl of candy corn and placed the bell on the counter with a note that read: Ring me for service. Didn't matter that she was right there behind the counter. Sometimes she just liked to hear the diiiiing.

Beauty had a whole day ahead of her with nothing to do. Much like the two previous days. The difference was that she intended to actually get out and do something with her Monday.

First stop, the post office, to say hello to Annette.

With a cheerful smile, she walked up to the desk, tilted her head at the sign, and then dinged the bell.

"Good morning, Annette," Beauty said, smiling. "How was your weekend?"

"Well, aside from flag football yesterday, it was spent very lazy," she said with sheepish bit of a grin. "I lazed around and did nothing but watch TV and nap. It was heaven. How was yours?"

"I didn't even do that much," Beauty chuckled. "I spent most of Saturday in A.J.'s room, and most of Sunday lying on my bed not doing anything at all. It was the laziest weekend I've ever had."

After a pause, she added, "What's flag football?"

Dick had spent the night in the radio station so it wasn't that far of a walk to the post office. He came in wearing a pair of sunglasses and was walking sort of stiff. Like he slept in a chair last night.

He rang the bell once and winced at the sound of it.

Annette watched him walk in, concern in her eyes, but when he rang her bell and winced, she subtly pushed it aside and leaned her arms on the counter. "What is wrong with you?"

"Spent all night drinking." Dick mumbled. "How are you?"

Dick might've still be a little drunk because he thought Annette's answer was to the how are you question for a second. Okay, for more than a second.

"I don't know. Just thinking about stuff. And the squirrels seemed up for it so I couldn't very well say no." he said. That would have been kind of impolite. "You didn't answer my how are you question."

Ino had finally finished a letter that hopefully tread the line between giving her dad enough information to make him happy while not telling him anything that would make him pull her out of school.

She saw the mailboxes but ignored those in favor of the counter. And ringing the bell. She had questions, okay?

"Hi," Annette said, looking up. "How may I help you today?"

"I just wanted to mail this," she held the letter up, "but first I was wondering - how does the mail get to wherever it needs to go?"

Annette smiled. "We have what is called a sorting engine and... it's weird, I know, but it just knows where to send your mail. Anywhere. It's weird yet cool at the same time."
