Fandom Post Office, Monday, 10/15

Annette was in the back with Gladys, they were talking about various packages that were shooting out of the sorting engine.

"They Have Your Name On Them," Gladys said, looking at Annette.

"I did some online shopping last week," Bounced Annette who was overly excited about a couple of them.

"You Shop Too Much." Gladys said.

"That's what daddy says," Annette grinned and shrugged and went back to helping Gladys sort the packages.

The bell was out on the front counter and there was a note there that read: Ring for service or a hug, your choice.

After leaving the park Ino wandered into the post office to see if Annette was working. She rang the bell and leaned against the counter.

Annette came bouncing out, and open box in her arms. "Ino! Hi!"

Ino grinned, "Hi! You're in a good mood today - get anything in the mail?" Not that she was nosy or anything.

"Oooh, I got lots of goodies," Annette grinned but she casually set her box down on the floor near her. "How are you today? You look to be in a good mood."

"I am!" Ino said cheerfully, "Mostly 'cause I don't have class today, even though I like Miss Lulu's class. I figured I'd just stop in and chat for a bit, unless you're busy?" Ooooh and she hadn't told Annette about what had happened with Kabuto and her kissing plan.

"I know. I love getting a break this week although I do enjoy my prophecy class. Stupid Barney gave me detention last week so I am glad I don't have to listen to him this week." She pouted momentarily. "So! Your plan? Did it go well?"

"Oh no! What did he give you detention for?" Ino asked, "Was it awful?"

Then she grinned, "It went as well as could be expected. I went in, all prettied up, and kiss him. He kinda blinked at me and then went back to burning origami animals, so I spazzed at him until he kissed me - but of course he used that as a distraction so he could mess up what I think was my nervous system, so I couldn't move properly for a little over an hour." Ino nodded, "About what I expected really."

Dick was in an exceptionally good mood today. Funny how money can make you forget that your dad is a wanted felon.

He rang the bell a few times.

Annette came bouncing out, dropped her package when she saw Dick, and came around the counter to give him a big tight hug. "Hi!"

"Hey!" he said, hugging her back. "How was your weekend?"

"Busy," she said pulling back to look up at him. "Everything okay?"

"Everything's fine." Dick said. "Well, if my dad steps foot in the country again he's getting seven to ten years at Club Fed but for some reason that's not really bothering me."

"Holy crap," she exclaimed, wondering what it would be like to be in his shoes. "I... kind of don't know what to say to that."

Hoshi had been procrastinating on sending a letter to her parents, but with Parents Weekend coming up soon, she realized that she needed to send it ASAP.

She nervously rang the bell, then rang it again in case no one heard her.

Annette heard and bounced out. Bouncing was good for the heart don't you know.

"Hi! How may I help you?"

"I need to get this letter to my parents right away so they don't come to Parents Weekend," said Hoshi. "Although the whole time factor might be kind of relative seeing as they're somewhere in the future. I have no idea how that works."

"Don't you worry; the sorting engine will get it there right away. Future, past, present. It just knows." Annette nodded and smiled and took the letter. "But how come you don't want them to come?"

"Because if my parents meet Professor Stinson, they'll probably pull me out of Fandom and it's back to working one-on-one with a tutor and not being able to speak to another living soul until I'm finally old enough to get out of that prison," said Hoshi, who was getting panicky at the thought.

"Oh. Yes. That would be bad." Annette felt bad for asking now. "You don't like Barney either? It's not that I really don't like him. But I don't like being called a ho. He gave me detention last week because I wouldn't play laser tag."

"I don't mind him. He's kind of amusing compared to the tutors I had at home. Besides, my name starts with ho and he still can't remember it," said Hoshi.
