The Arms Hotel Lobby, Saturday [10/27]

Mary and Gunther were having an argument today. Gunther wanted to continue serving afternoon tea buffet style. Mary had pulled the menus out of storage and wanted to go back to ordering a la carte. Anyone unlucky enough to be walking through the lobby today might find themselves in the middle of a heated argument.

Welcome to the Arms Hotel!
Please join us for afternoon tea.

[Open! I should be around all day.]

Faith was strolling through the lobby when she noticed the sign. Not a big tea drinker. But maybe they'd have some fancy snacks or whatever.

The woman who ran the place was in the lobby arguing with some ch--

Faith froze. And did a double take, swallowing hard. Look again. It isn't. It can't be. It's not ...

That accent - was that supposed to be funny?!

"You're dead." Faith held her fists up, willing her voice not to shake. "She killed you. Get outta my head."

"You some new trick of the First's?" Faith asked darkly. "We shut you down before. We can blow this whole joint back to the stone age, if that's what it takes."

Faith swallowed hard and tried not to shake. "Cut the shit," she said harshly. "And the stupid accent. Tell me why you're here. What the hell you want. You're not gonna get it. Not from me."

Faith stared for a long moment. The beard. And the accent didn't sound fake. And he'd never bothered trying to pretend to be anybody except The Mayor, and ... other than cookies, she'd never known him to be all hot on chef crap.

Then she reached out carefully to place a hand on the guy's arm, just to see if it was really there.

"Whoa," Faith said, shaking her head. And fighting off the urge to hug this guy. "Hey. Calm down. Volf- ... uh ... Wolfgang ... just ... sent me to ... test you. See if you really had ... what it took. Good job, Gunther. I'm gonna ... send him a clean report. Monday. Give this place four stars."

Please, let this sound less dumb to him.
