Random spot in the Preserve: Monday afternoon

A seed sprouted, sent out green tendrils to wrap around the nearest tree, strangling it, thrust roots deep down into the earth as leaves popped into existence and unfurled, while a tiny orange pod began to grow.

Soon, very soon, in a matter of minutes, in fact, there was a luscious green vine, leaves waving gently as they framed one perfect, gleaming, orange pumpkin.

It was, to all appearances, the perfect Halloween pumpkin.

Tempting, isn't it?

Jim was walking through the Preserve, trying to scope out a good spot to set up some kind of prank. He wasn't sure what kind of prank, but something good and Halloweeny.

That's when he tripped over a pumpkin.

"What was that?" he asked himself as he stood up. "Wow." It looked to be the perfect Halloween pumpkin.

Jim looked around. "Is this anyone's pumpkin? Anyone? .... No?" With that, Jim shrugged and grabbed the pumpkin. It was his now. The only question was should he prank with it or carve something in it. Or both?
