The Perk, Wednesday Afternoon

The Perk staff was starting to get used to the presence of Sarah Kerrigan.

And by 'used', they mostly meant 'cowering in'.

She was in a horrible mood today. But coffee was going to make everything alright. Yes.

She totally hadn't picked the spot by the door just because it allowed for better glaring opportunities.

His mood hadn't exactly improved after talking to Deadpool and not wanting to deal with setting coffee himself, Roy stopped by the Perk to buy some. It was hard not to notice Kerrigan sitting and he stopped.

"Can I get you a cup?" he asked quietly.

"Got one." Kerrigan held it up to show him. "Let me know if the staff's being annoying, though."

He tilted his head. "Are you going to deal with them for me?"

"They already fear me," she replied, dryly, "It'd be a waste of resources not to."

"Can I get you to deal with your landlord too?" he tried. He was kidding, mostly.

"I could beat him up?" she offered.

Roy smiled a little, because for a moment it made him feel better. "I'll get back to you about it," he grinned.

"I could, you know," Kerrigan offered, smiling slightly in response to the spike in feeling she got from him. "Just gotta get my suit."

"It's tempting," he admitted. "I'll settle for coffee for now, though. If you don't mind the company?"

"Sure," she replied, cocking her head at him. "Grab a cup and sit down."

He nodded and turned, returning a bit later with the cup. He slid into the chair opposite her as he placed the mug down on the table. "Having fun scaring the staff? I don't think I've ever been served that quickly before."

Kerrigan took a long drink off her coffee before answering. "Everyone needs a hobby."

"True, you should find me one," he said, the humour falling a bit short.

"You find me one first," she replied. "I think they're housebroken."

"Housebroken hobbies?" he glanced up at her. "Or do you mean the staff? I do have those, but I don't think I can quite spare them."

"I mean the staff's housebroken," she replied, raising an eyebrow at him. And sipping more of her coffee. "Which means I'm out of a hobby."

"Shame, I was just having fun thinking of housebroken hobbies," Roy sighed and rubbed his thumb over the brim of his cup. "I did warn you that it would get boring."

"Could be worse," she offered. She'd definitely lived worse. "Could be stuck with nowhere to go."

He tilted his head at her remark, trying to measure her words. "But you do," he tried.

"Been smaller places." Kerrigan sipped her coffee quietly.

"Bigger too," he guessed.

"Sure," Kerrigan replied, looking mildly distant. "Bigger, too."

He watched her an instant longer. "I'm considering buying you chocolate cake."

She raised an eyebrow and cocked her head mildly. "Why's that?"

"Why not?" he shrugged, picking up his cup to drink.

"Fair enough," she allowed, taking a sip of her own coffee. "How's the recuperation going?"

"Not as fast as I'd like it too, but faster than you'd expect," he replied, waving a waiter over to order some chocolate cake. "I had a cat sitting me for a few days."

"Sitting you or sitting on you?" she asked, letting some element of amusement colour her features. Finally. "When I came by, seemed more like the latter."

"I think it's a smart combination of both," he chuckled. "She didn't seem to mind sitting on you, though," he added, teasing.

She pulled a face. "At this rate, I'm going to be doomed to that cat. It better not start following me around."

Roy grinned. "I think it will be fine. She went back to Aly's the other day."

"Good."

It didn't sound entirely sincere.

Okay, maybe she liked that cat.

And of course Roy was annoying enough to pick up on that. His grin widened and he took a sip from his coffee to hide it. "I'll let you know when I'm watching them again."

"Har har," Kerrigan replied, "Drink your coffee, smartass."

"It's good coffee," Roy said. "Just not as good as mine."

He watched slightly amused as the waiter scurried over with the cake.

"Keep telling yourself that," she said, raising both her eyebrows at him in challenge.

Then she glanced up at the waiter. The non-verbal was enough to get him to put it down and leave.

"Sure I will," he watched the leaving. "Remind me to stay on your good side."

She smirked. Just a little bit. "Got my word, Sheriff."

He liked her smirking and grinned. "Thank you, I prefer avoiding a woman's wrath."

"Good man. Now shh." She dug in. "Cake now."

Roy chuckled, but there was cake and he wasn't one to argue with a pretty woman either. So he traded the cup for a fork and dug in.
