The Arms Hotel Lobby, Monday [11/12]

Mary was entirely too perky for a Monday morning. It was more than Gunther could take. He brought her a strudel and some coffee, then retreated to his kitchen.

Gunther will also do special requests if you ask nicely. It lets him stay in the kitchen longer so he can avoid Mary.

Tim came down the stairs, coughing slightly, not looking well at all.

He can has soup nau?

Stan approached Tim. "Are you okay? Do you need to go to the clinic?"

And wonder why in the world anyone could be this energetic on a Monday.

Stan came to visit, as was his wont on a Monday. Talking to Mary seemed to cheer him up more than surfing the internet for his fantasy sports leagues or reading up on the latest journals.

"Hello, Mary."

"Hi Stan! How was your weekend?" asked Mary, cheerful as ever.

"It was good. Nothing happened, so that means it was a very good weekend," he said with a wink. "You're chipper this morning."

"Things have been good lately," said Mary.

"That's good to hear. Place looks different, slightly," he teased, totally not looking at the new decoration outside.

"Well, things look different when Gunther isn't around pestering me," joked Mary.

"I'm sure that happens all the time," he teased back.

"I'm seeing someone," said Mary, a huge smile on her face.

"Really, now? Who is it? When did this happen?" he asked with a large grin.

"His name is George Michael and it's been a fairly recent development," said Mary. "I don't know where things are going yet, but I'm happier than I've been in a while."

"That's good to hear," he said, wondering if he should do a check on this George Michael.

Sounds like a musician.

"The past month has just been crazy, hasn't it?" said Mary, looking pensive.

"It has. I will say that," he said with a nod.

"At least that's all in the past and things are settling down a bit," said Mary. "Plus, Thanksgiving is just around the corner. Gunther is already looking at turkey recipes."

"Should we be afraid?" he teased. "I'm surprised there isn't Christmas decorations everywhere yet."

Mary frowned. "No Christmas decorations until after Thanksgiving," she said.

"That's what I keep thinking, but some stores? Already decorated, and it's barely after Halloween.

"Those are the places that don't make any money outside of the holiday season, so they need to expand the holidays," said Mary. "I have a positive cash flow all year long."

"This is true," he said. Then thought about it. "You pull in enough from just the residents to pull through the year? Or are you banking on Graduation, Parents Weekend, and the like?"

"Homecoming and Parents Weekend certainly allowed me to build my cash reserves, plus I have a few permanent tenants paying rent on a monthly basis," explained Mary. "Plus I have a few other assets."

"I'm sure you do," Stan said, notdirtily. "Do you have any more plans for remodeling? I think you had a brochure or something. Aside from the nude sleepwalkers," he said with a grin.

"Yes, the steam showers," said Mary. "I've run into a little snag. I'm waiting to hear back from my engineering consultant before ordering them. The problem is that I haven't been able to contact him in Las Vegas."

"He's not been available? That's not good. He should respond to messages."

"I haven't been able to contact anyone back home since Ed pulled his disappearing act," said Mary, looking worried.

"I'd be worried too, if I couldn't reach people back home."

Not that he really did any reaching. His fingers did no walking.

Speaking of walking...
"Does that guy (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomtownies/2261171.html?thread=101201843#t101201843) over there look okay?"

"Eek. Must be flu season again," said Mary. She double-checked to make sure her hand sanitizer was behind the desk.

"He looks bad. You mind if I...?" He gestured over to the guy. "He's a tenant?"

"Yeah, I think he teaches shop over at the school," replied Mary. "He's been in room 610 ~~I think~~ since the beginning of the semester."

"I'm going to talk to him. He looks like he needs the clinic." He sighed. "You'll be here all day? This might take a while."

"Sure, go ahead," said Mary. "I'll be here."

My weekend wasn't long enough.
