Sometime in the morning, Moist came hurrying into the post office. "Right, time to leave. I'll take over your shift," he said firmly.
Something was going on, and his instincts were screaming at him to get out. Much as he wanted to, right now he couldn't obey them, but he could do the next best thing.
Not quite the reaction he'd been expecting, but he wasn't going to complain. It would make it easier, and he really didn't feel like explaining. Or concocting a plausible reason why he was shutting down the post office, which would have been his own special version of explaining.
"Go on, out you go." Moist made a vague shooing motion in the direction of the door. "Try and stay away from sick people if you can avoid them."
