Fandom Post Office, Monday, 11/26

Annette didn't  make it back to Fandom last night. She didn't make it back this morning either. It was afternoon before she dropped off her luggage and hurried to work, thankful that Gladys had been manning the counter for her.

"You Look Funny," she said, staring at Annette.

"I fell, Gladys, but I'm okay," Annette answered. "I'm sorry I'm late..."

"You Shouldn't Be Falling Like That. I'm Going To The Back Now," and she turned and walked to the back, towards the sorting engine, leaving Annette to handle customers did they come in.

The Post Office is open.

Billy had mail to mail. Imagine that. Christmas cards even. What the hell?

"What the hell?" he blurted out when he saw Annette.

"Are you okay? What happened?"

"Who's?" Billy asked, quietly. It was, some might remark, rather like the Baroness' tone, when she was about to do something very unpleasant, but was acting like she wasn't.

He forced himself to calm down. Be angry when you find him. Don't scare Annette. "What happened?" he asked, sounding less dangerous.

"Little bit." he agreed, keeping a tight reign on his temper. "How'd you get away?" He was working up to the important questions. What's his name, where is he, that sort of thing.

That helped Billy calm down a bit. "Who shot him?"

"Why-" Billy almost asked 'why not'. But he stopped himself. "I think I rather like your father."

Crap. "I'm sorry, bad joke. I'm sorry. I'm just glad you're okay." He wondered if this was the point where he should offer a hug or something.

"Do, uh, you need a hug? Or, or something?" Billy had grown quite a bit since coming here, but he was still unclear on hugging etiquette.

And so Billy hugged her. "You look adorable like that by the way." he teased.

He didn't mind. He liked hugging her. "That way, just before I hugged you. That little, lost puppy look."

Billy wasn't in a huge hurry to move either. "I'm glad I could be here to help."

"Hey, anytime." He was slightly less embarrassed, but only slightly.

"Oh! Right 'cause this is a post office. Yes I have letters to mail."

"Thank you."
