Town hall, Monday afternoon
D'Argo didn't really care that Braca had left. Good riddance, actually. The only reason he was even going up to town hall was because it was the right thing to do, to... tell someone. Or something.
When he got there, he looked for the first receptionist type person he saw, saying, "I'm here about your mayor."
The woman smiled, like she was playing along with a really good joke. "I'm sure you are!"
...Okay. "He's not coming back."
"Like I didn't already know that, silly," she said, still with that smile.
He was definitely not in the mood for this. He'd had a really long... however long he'd been gone, he'd had a tiiiiiiny little bit of trauma, and by the looks of it, he was stuck here. "Look," he said. "I'm just letting you know-"
"Your office has been cleaned," she said. "It's ready for you."
D'Argo stared at her. "Uh. What office?"
The receptionist sighed. "Ex-Mayor Braca already told us you'd be acting as his successor. We got your office ready for you."
"..." he said, and then tried again. "...That's a mistake."
"No, he was very clear."
"Okay, here's the thing. I'm not a mayor."
"You are now," she said.
"No, I'm not."
"Are you going to stand here and argue all day or are you going to look at your office?"
It took about a microt for him to think about it, finally deciding to go with the second thing. Just to see, you know. It took him about another microt to decide it really was a pretty nice office....
[All hail your new alien overlord. NFI, omg. Was supposed to be posted way earlier, yes.]
