Holiday music was playing, as Robin straightened up. He hoped the holidays would bring customers. Surely with all the magic people on the island this would be a great place for to buy presents.

Hoshi was new to the holiday shopping thing, since Christmas was not really a big holiday where she came from. "Hi Robin. I didn't know you worked here," she said, taking a look around the shop.

"Hi Hoshi!" Robin waved, glad to see her. "Yep every Sunday. What can I do for you?"

"I'm not quite sure yet who I have to buy gifts for, so I thought I'd look around and see what hit me," said Hoshi. Now that Hoshi had spending money, she was kind of eager to spend it. "What kind of store is this anyway?"

"This," Robin said proudly, is a genuine magic shop. We sell all sorts of charms, books, talismans, spell ingredients, and other magicky things."

"Um, wow," said Hoshi. "There's no such thing as magic where I come from. What would you recommend?"

"Well it all depends on who you're shopping for." He hopped down off the counter and went over to a small table, where a display held various neclaces and pendants. "Like here we've got a bunch of talismans. Say, a St. Christopher medal for safe travel. Or and enchanted cross to ward off evil spirits."

Hoshi eyed the St. Cristopher medal. "That's probably something I could use myself on my trip home," she said with a smirk.

Robin nodded. "We've also got books on spells, mostly they're separated by section, like, healing, meditation, defense, that sort of thing."

Hoshi perked up. "Defensive spells?" she asked hopefully. Ever since her encounter with a vampire, she had been too terrified to leave the dorms after dark.

"Uh huh. We've got stuff about wards, Occult survival guides, and a few books about shield spells."

"Tell me more about these shield spells," said Hoshi.

"Well, let's see." Robin hopped up to one of the shelves, and found a small "Defensive Magic for Dummies" book, and took it out. He had plenty of practice with this by now, so he didn't even wobble as he pulled it out, and then hopped over to the counter with it.

"I've never tried any of this myself."

"If you don't mind telling me, have you ever had to defend yourself?" asked Hoshi.

"Not with magic." Robin said. "I've escaped from Dinosaurs by hopping though."

"That sounds like a pretty smart idea," said Hoshi, smiling.

"It sure worked." Robin agreed. "I don't think I'd have tasted very good, but that would have been small comfort."

"So, we're talking real dinosaurs here?" asked Hoshi. "People keep talking about them along with the trolls and zombies."

"Were you not here for the Dinosaurs?"

Hoshi blinked. "No, I wasn't. They were real dinosaurs? How... no, maybe I don't want to know."

"It can be hard to keep track sometimes I guess. They were real. I don't know how they got here or where they went, but I got attacked by Raptors. I also got stepped on by one of the big four legged ones, but I think he was just playing."

Somehow, a shield spell sound a heck of a lot more useful against a dinosaur than her basic aikido defensive moves. "I'll take the book," said Hoshi, pulling out her money.

Robin rang up her purchase. "It might be a good idea to find someone at school who knows magic, so they can help you." he said.

Was Hoshi going to find someone at school to help her? Heck no. "I'll keep that in mind. Thanks Robin," she said.
