Magic Box, Wednesday [12/05]

There was snow! There wasn't much of it, but Andrew was totally glued to the window watching it come down.

Peter came in and looked around to see who was there.

"Ah, hello! Welcome to the Magic Box," Andrew said with a smile. "There's snow! We never get snow back home."

"Hey Andrew," Peter said, smiling back. "Made any snow angels yet?"

"No, no I haven't, but if it gets deeper, I'm totally there." Andrew looked over at Peter, his smile wavering a bit. "Have we had a class together?" he asked.

"I've met - guess you could say a version of you?" Peter said, trying to put it gently. Then, just to be on the safe side, "I'm Peter Petrelli by the way."

"Oh." That could mean a lot of things here. "Are you from Sunnydale? Everyone from there seems to know some other version of, um, me." This whole thing made Andrew really uncomfortable.

"But it's still nice to meet you Peter."

"I'm from New York," Peter said. "I met an older version of you, here in Fandom."

"Oh, cool. Oh." It dawned on Andrew exactly what version Peter was talking about. "That wasn't me," he said flatly.

"Could've been," Peter said, without judgement.

It still stung. "I know," he said softly as he turned to look back out the window. He had been having a good day for a change.

Andrew sighed. "I'm sorry for anything I said."

"No apology needed," Peter said. "I just didn't like the idea that so much time could go by with you feeling like nobody gave a damn."

"I have really good friends here," he said. "I mean, it hasn't been easy. I'm not exactly the perfect picture of good mental health or a positive self image right now." Andrew had been reading up on depression. "But I'm making it."

"It takes time," Peter said, by way of agreement. "It may be part of life but death's not easy to get used to."

"Back in Sunnydale death was pretty much a way of life. Kids in your class would just sort of disappear. We didn't talk about it much. But still, it was never someone I really knew, you know? Never someone that meant so much to me." Andrew reached out and put his hand on the glass.

Peter nodded. "People get it, but they don't get it. I mean we've all dealt with death in some way or another, but the loss is always personal."

Andrew was quiet for a moment. Then he turned and looked at Peter and said, "Thanks for checking on me and all that. It's just been... weired."

"I've got ears if you feel like talking about it," Peter said. "It hasn't been a year since my dad died so - " Peter shrugged "- I know what it's like."

That was really sweet. "I'm not... I mean... That's sweet of you to offer. I'm sorry about your dad."

"Thanks," Peter said. "I'm sorry about Bart."

Andrew nodded slowly and sighed.

"So New York, huh? Have you seen LEASE? I've always wanted to see a musical on Broadway."

"Yep," Peter said. "When I go back for winter break I might try to catch Fall Sleeping (http://www.springawakening.com/). I hear that's supposed to be good."

"Oh man! I really want to see that too! Maybe I'll try and travel up that way over break. It's not like I need to go back to Sunnydale for anything. Heck, I still haven't made it over the causeway into Washington."

"I haven't had much chance to go sight-seeing there either," Peter said. "Which might be reason enough for my brother to disown me."

"Yeah? Why would he disown you?"

"He's hoping to get into politics," Peter said. "So not making DC a priority is probably blasphemy as far as he's concerned."
