The troopers accidentally found Dale's coffee stash.

Dale's coffee is now all gone.

For Dale this is a tragedy of epic proportions.

It was a tragedy for Renee as well. A lesser one, but still sad.

Good thing she brought a cup at the Perk for him. And a few danishes. Couldn't start the say without a healthy breakfast.

"You look like someone shot your dog," She commented, setting the cup on his desk.

"Due to the unfortunate lack of stickyness of our labels from our labelmaker the troopers drank all of my private stash last night," Dale said seriously. "I plan on writing a letter to the manufacturer and the Better Business Bureau."

Placing the box of danishes on his desk as well, Renee nodded seriously. "Maybe demand compensation?" She suggested dryly.

"While compensation will be welcomed I plan not to make any demands," Dale said as he snagged a danish. "I shall only explain the situation and express my displeasure. Any compensation will solely be based on their expertise of customer service. Mmmm. Damn good danish."

"The squeaky wheel gets the grease," Renee said, mostly as an observation than anything. She sipped the coffee, closing her eyes at the wonderful smell..

Cooper was rubbing off on her.

"Indeed," Dale said taking another bite of his danish. "However in the end all consumers will benefit as they will hopefully create a better product and such mishaps will never occur again."

Renee raised an eyebrow at him. "Thinking of the public. Very civic minded of you."

"Isn't that the duty of all law enforcement?"

Well he had her there. Renee leaned against his desk, stealing a danish. "I've never thought of it in a commercial aspect."

"Do you think we should notify the public?" Dale asked as he reached for another danish. "A public service announcement?"

"About a label maker?" No, Renee was not having this conversation. She really wasn't.

Except that she was.

"You're right. A simple notice in the newspaper via the opinion column should be enough," Dale said. "I'll dictate that to Diane later this afternoon."

It wasn't that Renee wasn't used tot he weird. This just happened to be a brand new level of weird for her.

"One of the troopers is named Diane?" That made two troopers whose names she knew now.

"Well we call him Ralph, but I always address my verbal dictations to Diane and he doesn't seem to mind," Dale explained. "Diane was my old secretary before I came to Fandom and it doesn't feel write to make notes to someone named Ralph."

Of course Ralph didn't like to be called Diane or Ralph but that was beside the point.

"Oh." Renee took a thoughtful bite of her danish. "And the other troopers? Do that have names?"

"Yes but we can never tell them apart, so I just generally say either 'Ralph' or 'Hey you'."

Which made Renee think it was less an accident on the part of the label maker, and more on the anger of the troopers for having been called 'hey you!'.

"Doesn't that make it difficult to organize them?"

"Well it would but they're pretty organized on their own, " Dale replied. "Or at least I've done very little to help organize them."

Looking over at the Troopers, Renee simply nodded again. "Fair enough."

Roy's brain was actually not eaten by paperwork today so he did remember that he was supposed to talk to Renee about something.

"Detective," Roy greeted. "I've been meaning to talk to you."

Renee glanced up from her desk, back straighting just a bit. "Yes, sir?" She said warily.

"Nothing bad," he assured her easily when he noticed the wary part. "Are you still looking for somewhere to live?"

"Yeah, you find an available apartment?"

"More like room," he replied. "Lieutenant Kerrigan said you could talk to her if you're interested. She's got room at her house."

The one who seemed to think she was a secretary?

Renee gave him a slightly forced grin. It was better than a hotel, at least. "I'll get in touch with her then."

If he noticed it was forced, he didn't comment on it. "The number should be in the directory, but I've got it if it's not," he offered easily before subtly changing the topic. "I trust the paperwork hasn't gotten to your brain yet?"

Renee looked down at her desk. "Unless you count talking about coffee with Cooper and beginning to agree with him on certain points."

Roy paused. "Should I be worried, Detective?"

"If I try discussing pie with you, I'll thank you to start an intervention."

"I'll have to keep an eye open," he deadpanned. "Perhaps we should have bi-weekly catch ups just to make sure."

Renee smiled faintly at that, trying to keep it from getting bigger. "And we can keep you up to date on the plans for the next invasion of things."

"It would be appreciated," he nodded, still serious. "It would look very bad if I weren't up to date on things."

"I think the latest involves what to do with flying monkeys," She supplied. "So you're up to date, sir."

"Flying monkeys," Roy repeated slowly. "So what's the answer?"

Renee smirked at that reaction. "I believe it was to shoot them as long as they weren't on the endangered species list."

He snorted. "Check that list, Detective."

"That part's Cooper's job. I'm the shooter."

"And suddenly the plan makes more sense," he joked.

"If it distracts him from the trauma of the label maker, I think so," Renee said, mock serious tone.

Roy tried not to blink. "I believe I missed that trauma. I also think it's probably a good thing," he then added after giving it a second of thought.

"It might be, sir," Renee said with a snort of amusement.

"Just... tell me when it gets out of hand," he decided, figuring some things he was better off not knowing.

Roy wandered out of his office looking the slightest bit confused. "Why is Ralph so hyper?"
