Fandom Post Office, Monday 12/17

Annette was at work bright and early this morning. As soon as she made sure everything was neat and ready for any customers that might come in, she sat down and started studying. Her first final was tomorrow and that was Mr. Phale's class. She was fairly confident that she knew what she needed to know, but it didn't hurt to go over all of her handouts again, making sure. 

It was quiet in the front portion of the office except for the slight humming noise of the sorting engine in the back. Annette figured there would be many more cards coming in as well as gift packages, and all would have to be delivered. Too bad Gladys was gone. It just might be a long day.

She wished she had a huge white chocolate mocha.

The Post Office is open.

Dick had a final today. Which sucked. But it wasn't till the evening so he had time to visit Annette while she was at work. And by sheer coincidence he came in with two coffees. Where they white chocolate mocha? Well, one was. Guess she'll just have to pick the right one now won't she?

She smiled when she saw him and she smiled even more when she noticed the two coffees. "For me?" She knew one was for her. "Aren't you sweet. White chocolate mocha?"

"One is." he said. He looked at the tops of them. "Not sure which one is which. Pick one."

Annette tilted her head and knew he was being devious. Tentatively she reached out and went for the right, no left, okay right and brought it to her lips to take a careful sip.

Dick took a sip of his own. "Okay, I got the peppermint one. My breath is going to be awesome."

"This is so good, thank you," she said. "And you probably need it after last night, huh? Drunk much?"

"Just a little." he said. "Hardly woke up with a hangover."

"Good for you," she said and took another sip of her coffee. "I won't be drinking until the New Years party and maybe not then." Certain people lately have maybe changed her opinion about drinking. "But if I do? Don't worry, I'll be a good girl." Seriously.

"I trust you." he said, smiling. "Why wouldn't you drink on New Years? It's a tradition."

Jamie came in with a box that was labeled: "Fragile! Do not break!"

"Hi. I need to insure this for a bajillion dollars."

Annette raised her brows. "A bajillion?" Looking down at the box, she smiled. "I can insure it, Jamie and I promise, it won't take a bajillion dollars to do it."

"It's extremely important," Jamie said. "Because it's my Christmas gift for Scott Summers and I don't want it damaged in any way."

She nodded. "I promise to take very good care of it. The sorting engine will do it's job exceptionally well and your friend? will have it on time and in perfect condition. Where's it going?"

"Xavier's school for gifted youngsters," Jamie replied. "Though really we're not that gifted. Mentally that is. Unless you're a big guy with blue fur."

"Haven't ever seen a big guy with blue fur, but I'll take your word for it," she said as she prepared the proper handling fees and all that. "If your not gifted mentally, then what kind of gifted are you?"

"I'm a living Xerox machine," Jamie explained. "Though that's genetics really and has nothing to do with intellect."

She frowned, thinking about that and yeah, okay... "Yeah yeah, I know now... I remember seeing all of you once in the common room. One of you, or maybe it was the real you -- anyhow, you had one of the others fix me a cup of coffee. It was way cool."
