Magic Box, Wednesday [12/19]

Andrew arrived early and set up for his shift, making sure the free vials of holy water were easily seen from the street.

The gray clouds and the nippy weather gave him hope for seeing some more snow flurries, so he sat near the windows and gazed outside.

And then he started humming. And then singing:

"I am sitting
In the morning
At the diner
On the corner

I am waiting
At the counter
For the man
To pour the coffee..."

Sometime after his discussion with Mel, Xander headed into the Magic Box, both hoping to see Giles and wanting to avoid this conversation with him at the same time.

"Andrew!" he said with a surreal sense of relief, when he saw who was behind the counter. "Just the guy I was... totally expecting to see."

Xander crumpled the piece of paper in his hand slightly when he frowned and anwered, "Still out."

"Clearly you haven't seen the guy's forehead." Xander smoothed out the list in his hand. "Honestly you can help best by staying the hell away from him. And inside at night. Less people he can get near, the less he can hurt."

"No, but she could smell them maybe," Xander pointed out. Hell, it wouldn't hurt. Anything was worth trying, to wake her up. "Actually knowing Willow? The nicest thing you could do would be stop by and read her homework to her."

It's.... kind of sad that he knows Willow that well.

Xander blinked at the array of options, and decided the safest answer was to go with what he came in for in the first place. "Holy water I've got, but you could help with the grocery list here." He set the list of herbs, candles, and various stones down on the counter. "It's... kind of a present for Willow when she wakes up."

If it were Giles, he'd know what kind of present it was - Xander just wasn't sure how he'd feel about it. Hell, Xander wasn't sure how Xander felt about it.

[OOC: And I sneak off for a meeting!]

"More like a gift basket for the whole island. Kind of a share the love deal." It might not ever get used, but at least being prepared made Xander feel like he was doing something.

Xander was a little fearful about what he might chip in - what exactly were the mystical properties of funnel cake? "We could always use more mugwort," he suggested. "Willow's a big mugwort girl."

"Oh, cool, holy water?" Sokka asked, grabbing a few and stuffing them in his bag. "Katara will LOVE these! ... Uh, why are they free, though? Did the holiness wear off or something?"

"Strife...?" Sokka asked. "...Vampires? VAMPIRES!" He hurriedly started stuffing more vials into his bag. And then stopped.

"Ohhhh, no, wait, never mind. We're all good. See, there are a few people on the island who are what's called 'vampire slayers'. They've got, like, special powers and things, and they can take down the lurks no problem."

"...Oh. That... doesn't sound good. Do you think Mel needs backup?"

Sokka gave him a thumbs-up. "Awesome! Did you find anything?"

[identity profile] sarcasm-guy.livejournal.com 2007-12-20 04:21 am (UTC)(link)
Sokka scratched his head over that. "Maybe next time you should use someone less bad-ass as the bait?"

[identity profile] sarcasm-guy.livejournal.com 2007-12-20 04:39 am (UTC)(link)
"No, I said LESS bad-ass," Sokka corrected. "Like you, maybe. Or... Did you say 'steak'?"

[identity profile] sarcasm-guy.livejournal.com 2007-12-20 04:55 am (UTC)(link)
"...That is pretty bad-ass," Sokka admitted. "But it doesn't really help when Vlad's snapping at your neck, unless you've already summoned the..." He looked at Andrew funny. "You only summon GOOD demons, right?"

[identity profile] sarcasm-guy.livejournal.com 2007-12-20 05:20 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah," Sokka agreed. "But even the good ones can be pretty scary when you piss them off."

After having been abducted for a day by the Spirit of the Forest, and nearly imprisoned for all eternity by the Spirit of Knowledge, Sokka was just a little cautious regarding the supernatural realm.
