At 8:00, the doors to Caritas opened.

Unlike previous years, the host for the evening was not dressed up. He was still wearing his robes. Tino and the zombies were dressed in their fanciest clothes (which for the zombies meant "only several holes and very few patches of dirt).

Jolee had taken the time to get some cleaned-up T1-series utility droids to roam around with free champagne for anyone who wanted some. Tino was behind the bar to serve other kinds of drinks, but those were not free. The lounge had been replaced by a dance floor with a nearby buffet and there was a ball hovering above the stage ready to drop at midnight. That part was Jolee's doing. He was totally showing off his Force skills, but he would claim that it was some kind of machine doing it that he couldn't begin to understand and don't poke around looking for it because if you break it you'll be thrown out in a very impressive fashion and that's only if the utility droids don't get you first..

[OOC: Tino and the T1's are totally moddable. I'll be around a little later but I need to celebrate the fact that I have a paycheck again by eating food. ~~Please wait for OCD.~~ Have at it!]

In case anybody wants to stop by and chat with the host who is dressed in his best robes. That is, his most recently washed robes. Look, Jedi can live in these things without taking them off for years, don't judge him.

If the zombies play YMCA, get off the dance floor and take cover. The tape that keeps their arms to their shoulders isn't strong enough to support the arm motions. Someone may get hit by a flying arm.

There's also food over there. Beware the food after any YMCA performance.

[OOC: There will be no YMCA performance. Feel free to generally mod music, though.]

Jolee had no clue why the band broke out a synthesizer and was playing this song now. It sounded like a Wookiee gargling.

He thought that of most of the music tonight, though.

In any event, the zombies were playing Europe and counting down. All the while, the ball lowered at a steady pace.

"Aiiiiigh... Rrrrrrrrrr... Eeeeeeeeeee... Oooooooooooo... Uggggggggggh... Aaaaeeeee ooooooogh eeeeeear!"

If anyone kisses for too long and Jolee sees it, they might get Force smacked. But he's making a point not to look. It's his gift to all of you.

After the Christmas she'd just had, Eve so needed a drink. Or twelve. Which was why she'd beelined for the bar and told Tino to give her something strong and surprise her.

Jaina had no problem spending her first New Year's Eve on Earth here, glad John didn't seem to mind it either.

And she was sort of really amused by the droids.

"They've set this up a little differently for the party tonight," he commented, looking around the bar. "And are those droids?"

"They are," she said, watching one. "Much older than I'm used to, too, if I don't recognize them."

"Me too," he said, peering at one nearby. "I hope they don't cry."

A corner of her mouth turned up and she asked, "I'm pretty sure they grow out of that."

"Promise me your grandfather hasn't been near these droids," he said, still looking wary of them.

"Monday's Jolee's night. He doesn't seem to be too big a fan. I'm pretty confident they're safe," she assured him.

"Jolee of the floating beer," John nodded, remembering meeting the guy. "He must not be so bad."

"The floating beer?" she repeated.

"He has that telekinesis thing," John explained. "He made the beer float."

"I love that that's what you remember," she grinned, still amused at how much he seemed to like the telekinesis.

"What? It was the most interesting part of our conversation. And it's not like that's normal," he pointed out. "For my people."

"Not exactly normal for mine, either," she reminded him. "And I'm not saying it's a bad thing."

"It's a cool power," he said. "Especially growing up reading comic books and not thinking they were real."

"Look at the droids," Luke said, grinning and pointing as he and Jo walked into the bar. "They're so old!"

Jo tilted her head at them. "I'll take your word for it."

"Surprise," she said with a smile. "And it means no one has to get up to turn the lights off."

"We had some really old droids on the farm and even ours weren't this out of date," he said, smiling harder. "Master Bindo must be from further back in the timeline than I thought."

He leaned over to kiss her cheek. "And you look lovely, by the way."

"That might be my favorite part," he teased.
