Evie stopped in on her way out to the Causeway, hat on her head, bags in hand, and rushed over to the counter. "I just wanted to say good-bye before you leave to meet all the new people! You will write, won't you?"

Evie handed over a little card she'd put her name and address on, and tilted her hat back. "And you too. If you can, consider yourself invited to visit whenever you wish. Truly." She sighed. "I'm going to miss this place."

Evie laughed, then nodded. "You're quite right. Even if I don't come back again--" Although, perhaps, for that future reunion? "It's not as if this place will disappear into the mists." She reached out to give River a spontaneous hug. "Stay safe? And well?"

"All I can ask," Evie admitted, then pulled back. "Best of luck in the new year and your last semester, River." She picked up her bag, and huffed. "Right. Causeway and Atlantic and London, here I come!"

Mary was in one of her signature dresses, but she was wearing very little make-up and was looking a little tired. She'd been up late helping one of the slower housekeepers freshen up rooms that hadn't been occupied for a while and ended up crashing in one of the empty rooms on the first floor. By all rights, she should have fallen asleep as soon as her head hit the pillow, but she'd gotten used to sleeping with George Michael and it felt weird to have the whole bed to herself.

Mike wasn't looking his best today. After all those beers at his going-away party, he'd boarded the red-eye from Las Vegas to D.C. and then taken a cab the rest of the way. All he wanted was a quick shower and change of clothes before heading out to meet his new students and coworkers.

He smiled at the girl behind the desk, but when a woman with a clipboard walked out, he stopped dead in his tracks. "Mary?" he asked tentatively.

Mary looked up, slightly startled. "Mike?" she said. Then she smiled and went to hug him. "Mike! It is you! What are you doing here?"

Mike hugged her back. "I just got a job teaching computers at the school," he said. "No wonder that white picket fence out front looked familiar. You must have been the one who sent that picture to Danny with no return address."

"How's Danny? Is he okay? What about Delinda and Sam?" asked Mary.

"They're all okay. Delinda has really charmed the new owner, and she's thrilled about the baby. Danny's the new president of operations and he's a bit nervous about fatherhood, but he's taking it all in strike," said Mike. "Sam is going through a rough patch and she's freelancing again, but Delinda is keeping an eye on her. How about you? How long have you been here? What are you up to?"

Mike didn't ask about why Mary fled. He was completely caught by surprise when Danny, Mary and Ed teamed up to kill Frank Connell and he didn't want to say anything until Mary brought it up.

"I'm great!" said Mary. "I own this place and I love having my own business. I live in one of the junior suites upstairs and I'm dating this really great guy. His name is George Michael Bluth and he runs the frozen banana stand in town." Her face completely lit up as she talked about George Michael.

Of course, Mike noticed the big smile on Mary's face. He hoped that this Bluth guy was decent because he didn't want to see Mary get hurt again. "Think you can get me a discount on a room? I think I should freshen up before heading out there to the picnic."

"Of course! I've got a nice little suite with your name on it," said Mary, checking her clipboard. "There's also a special monthly rate if you want to stay here long-term."

"Oh, no. I'm not one of those people who has to live with housekeeping and 24-hour room service. I'll find myself an apartment as soon as I get a chance," said Mike.

"In the meantime, let's get you checked into room 302. You'll like it. There's a really nice view of Serenity Cove from that side of the hotel. I still can't believe you're here!" squealed Mary.

"I still can't believe you're here," said Mike. "We really need to get caught up as soon as I get a chance."
