Atlas Gym [mid-morning]

It might have taken most of the early morning to meditate himself out of a hangover, but using the methods Obi-Wan had finally taught him once he'd become a Jedi Knight, Anakin was able to trotted through the snow and down to the gym well before the time he was scheduled to meet Jaina.

Who hadn't hit on him the night before, thank the Force. Yeesh.

Jaina hadn't been counting on the snow, and really hadn't counted on being bundled up when she showed up at the gym. Still, she got there a little early, and wasn't surprised to see Anakin already there.

And she was not at all nervous about this sparring session, really. Okay, that was a total lie, but she was hiding it well.

"I should have known you'd get here before me," she told him.

"It's a shorter walk from my house," he said, giving her a small smile. "It's good to see the real you."

She looked confused, asking, "The real me?"

"Brooke tried to get me to buy her a drink last night," Anakin said, shrugging his robe off and rolling out his shoulders.

Jaina stared. "I don't know whether to laugh or be horrified but I'm really leaning towards the second option."

"I did too," Anakin replied, cheeks going a little pink.

[solo_sword]

"If I end up killing her, I refuse to believe that's a bad thing," she decided, taking off the outdoors-appropriate layers and tossing them aside.

"Just don't leave the body around where people can find it," Anakin advised, stepping towards the center of the room.

Best not to think about how well he knows that.

She'd assumed he wouldn't have needed to hide them, really. She unclipped her lightsaber from her belt, asking, "You about ready?"

Anakin grinned at her. "This is what I do," he said, igniting his blade.

She rolled her eyes at that, but smiled and ignited her own weapon, getting into a ready stance.

Anakin immediately launched into a probing attack--nothing too fierce, just a test to see how fast she was before he really started moving.

While Jaina wouldn't call herself 'jumpy', she sort of was, at least enough to react quickly. She brought her blade up to block him, trying to knock his own away with a circular motion.

Andkin didn't say anything, but expression looked pleased as he countered her move and tried a sweeping thrust towards her legs.

It seemed to her that there was a fundamental difference in sparring with him instead of Luke, which was that she thought he was much more likely to actually remove limbs. She hopped back to avoid the blade, taking the opportunity to swing her lightsaber across from shoulder-height.

Anakin ducked easily and tried a jab towards her stomach.

She almost wasn't able to get back into a good blocking position in time, so when she did, she just managed to knock his blade away.

"Good," he said. "Most Jedi focus too much on tactics that will avoid blaster shots and not enough on what another lightsaber can do to them."

He tried to slip his blade in towards her right wrist.

[solo_sword]

"I've seen what it can do," she assured him, still concentrating enough to block the shot, and try to jab her own lightsaber back at his chest.

Anakin took a step back and blocked her shot with his lightsaber. "Good," he repeated. "Now we go faster."

[solo_sword]

"Good," she said, starting off immediately with a swing towards his shoulders.

Anakin batted it away and used the momentum to try to force her backwards.

It did knock her a step or two back, but she recovered quickly to take a step forward, trying to compensate for that with a jab at his stomach.

Anakin smiled as he intercepted the motion with the ease of practice. "One of the first things Obi-Wan taught me," he said.

[solo_sword]

"Thanks, Obi-wan," she grumbled, trying to knock his blade away from hers.
