Dale walked in Roy's office looking slightly frazzled.

And wearing a sweatshirt and sweatpants.

"I finished the paperwork regarding the..."

Dale's mind trailed off for a second and he shook his head trying to clear it. "The thing. Is there anything else that needs to be done?"

Roy stared for a moment as Dale out of costume was disturbingly weird. "Everything alright, Agent Cooper?"

"I'm fine," Dale snapped and then sighed in frustration as he rubbed his stomach a bit. "Just... feeling out of sorts. Could have been that third slice of pie I had last night. Since the paperwork is done I was hoping I could leave a little early today?"

Sure, let everyone take the day off while he sat here and worked. It just figured. "If you must, I'm more than capable handling it all on my own."

"What's that supposed to mean?" Dale asked looking a bit huffy. "I more than carry my weight around here and even come in on my days off to make sure that everyone has fresh coffee and doughnuts. I would think that entitles me to a little time off when I'm not feeling well."

Roy tapped his finger on the desk. "It doesn't mean anything. You can take the time off."

"Fine. I will." Dale said in a grumpy fashion and marched out of the office.

Snapping at one of the troopers to get out of his way.

Roy blinked.

"Fine!" he called after Dale, just to get the final word.

Aly still was trying to figure why exactly the guy at J,GOB had burst into tears when she asked for two coffee rolls. ...whatever.

So armed with coffee rolls but not coffee because the station had good coffee, she made her way into the station. "I don't want to disappoint you," she teased, poking her head into Roy's office. "But I don't bring snow."

Roy pouted a little. "Why not?"

She blinked. "Because it's not snowing today? I brought coffee rolls though," she said, holding up the bag as proof.

"I liked that snow," Roy said sadly. "It was nice snow. I'm going to miss it."

Aly came around the desk to sit next to him. "Think it was about enough for me," she confided. "Too much cold and I turn into an icicle."

Roy nodded, eye suspiciously bright. "Can I have a roll, please?"

Still more than a bit confused, she pulled one out of the bag. "You have a napkin or something? They're kinda sticky."

Having no napkin and the idea of crumbs and sticky fingers on his uniform and then there still was no snow was even sadder and Roy bit his lip as he shook his head. "No."

...Okay that was cute. Weird. But cute.

"I'll go grab some from the kitchen. Need more coffee too?"

Later Aly was going ot have to really wonder why exactly she was offering to fetch for him. But he was looking awfully sad.

Roy nodded and glanced up at her with big eyes. "Yes, please? That would be nice, I don't know what I'd do without you." He was this close to hugging her.

She didn't know what it was that made her rub her hand through his hair like he was a little kid. Must have been the big eye.

"I'll be right back," she said, sliding off the desk and heading out the door.

"Okay," he said softly, watching her leave and he wondered if she'd been back. Maybe he'd been too needy these last few days and now she regretted that kiss yesterday so she would tell him it was a mistake and the coffee rolls were a bribe to cheer him up. A bribe that would go right to his hips so he wouldn't fit into his pants anymore. He did feel somewhat bloated.

He was getting fat, that was what it was. She didn't find him attractive anymore and she was totally escaping out of the window. Or maybe just the door, but she wasn't coming back. That bag with coffee rolls was the last he'd ever see of her. He fingered it sadly, knowing he would never be able to eat those pastries.

Thankfully Aly knew nothing of those thoughts and returned quickly with two plates, some napkins and coffee. "Here we go," she said with a grin. "Dale must have made this coffee. It smells extra good."

The joy of seeing her return was squashed with a new sense of insecurity. "You like his coffee better than mine, don't you?" he accused.

"Ummm," Yes. "No, he just uses different smelling beans?"

Roy frowned. "You don't have to make excuses, you can tell me the truth," he replied. "I know I'm a lousy cook. I just thought I was better at coffee, but if Dale's better than you don't have to hide that from me."

"I think he probably cares more about coffee than is reasonable for anyone," Aly pointed out with a grin, trying not to wonder the reason behind this weirdness. "So it's understandable." She put the coffee rolls on the plates since Roy didn't seem to be capable of doing that. "Here, have a donut."
