The Arms Hotel Lobby, Saturday [1/12]

Mary was in a really, really good mood, even if her boyfriend was going away for a few days. Her good mood probably had something to do with extra special good-bye she had given him, but her lips were sealed on that matter.

She walked into the kitchen, thinking of asking Gunther to put together a picnic basket for her to take to the park, when she noticed Gunther and his sous chef devouring bags of chocolate chips. "What's going on?" she asked. Gunther whined about how he felt so unappreciated while the sous chef cried about how no one even knew his name.

[I'm AFK until 2 PM today and then around after that.]

Stan walked in, wondering why the hell the Hotel had to be on the other side of the Island. Really. All this way for some food? Gunther better impress the hell out of him today. And he felt wrong like he originally posted this under the wrong account for some reason.

"A bit grumpy," he confessed. "In the mood for soup and possibly chocolate. Found myself watching Lifetime...and liking it."

"That sounds wonderful," he said, attempting a smile. He straightened up a little, hand on his lower back.

"It seems so. DId a bit of rearranging of the furniture last night, and it appears that I am paying for it," he said, frowning. It did look better before. Why did he move it? Change never worked.

"Well, I'm very happy for you," Stan said, almost snapping. "Guess some people are more lucky than others."

It took him about half a second to actually process what he just said, and then his jaw dropped. "Mary, I didn't mean it like that," he said, dropping his eyes, his hands on the small of his back. "I just don't know what's come over me today."

Those were not tears in his eyes. And if they were (which is not an admission), then they were manly tears of pain.

"I thought I was!" he wailed. "And then you spend all your time with the boyfriend like I don't even matter!" he said, toning the wail down to huffyness.

"I think I need something to eat. Every time I try to rationalize and figure out what I'm doing, I... The DSM IV called me neurotic!" Clearly, one shouldn't be reading the catalog of craziness when crazy. It's like a hypochondriac surfing Web MD.

Which would be an admirable feat to get the two of them together without fighting.

...don't ask how Gunther, the sous chef, and Stan ended up sobbing on the floor in the kitchen and bonding.

Well. Stan bonded with the sous chef, as Gunther and Stan were too busy trying to out-diva each other.
